It should be no surprise that I do devotions every day. My prayer is, of course, that YOU do devotions every day, as well.
The devotional I use is called “Divine Hours” and every day of every year you are lead to time with God at 6a, then at 11a, then at 5p, and finally what is called compline as you are preparing for your night rest.
These devotions are full of scripture. There is no cute little story attached. There is no phrase of comfort or teaching written. No heartfelt words by the author. These devotions are several scriptures followed by a time of prayer. There is only journaling words ..read more

IN THE MORNING, AS I RISE
By Rev. Steven Lamb
For those of you actively listening to the sermon on Sunday mornings, you will remember I have been giving you different prayers or statements or meditations to utilize when you first wake up for the day.
What is it that you do when your eyes first open in the morning?
Hit the snooze button – again and again and again.
Grumble that it is morning.
Stumble from the bed and right into your morning routine.
Check the phone.
Check the news.
Check the weather.
Start the coffee.
Quickly eat breakfast.
Out the door.
All without thought and still half aslee ..read more

Anger.
It is something everyone that holds the human condition must learn to control. And the human condition is something every one of us will have until we breathe our very last breath.
Anger.
If you look into the Webster online dictionary, anger, as a noun, is defined as “a strong feeling of displeasure and usually of antagonism. A threatening or violent appearance or state.” An extended definition includes the word rage.
A strong feeling of displeasure. Rage is added as an extension of but not the definition of anger. Rage is anger out of control.
Anger is a word often used to describe God ..read more

I’m Going to Heaven by Pastor Steve
In a conversation with someone, I asked and was told, “I’m going to heaven.” Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know if they will or if they won’t. I’m not the one that gets to decide that and I’m glad that is the case. You might be glad, as well!
It’s funny how that conversation continues. “I’m going to heaven” is a phrase used and treated just like, “I’m going to mom’s for Christmas dinner” or “I’m going camping” or “I like to fish” or “I’m going to the game tonight.” It’s like going to heaven is something you get to decide. It is right up there with living a “go ..read more

Consider the following scripture text with me.
Romans 8:12-17 (NIV)
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself ..read more

Every day, I receive daily devotionals, reading, music, and writings from people all around the world. Sometimes I allow these gifts and blessings to become my devotional time. I admit, sometimes, I move on from these in-box blessings into other things before I even place myself in the presence of the Almighty God and speak just to Him.
It isn’t long after I move on I realize I missed that time in my morning routine and stop. I first ask for forgiveness and then I just sit in God’s mighty presence and listen. Sometimes He waits for all the other noise in my head to calm down and stop before He ..read more
