Today’s Prayer: Thomas Edison…who we all know invented the light bulb and many other useful products that we are dependent on today. It has to be said he was a very smart and intelligent man. He wrote in 1920s
, “We don’t know the millionth part of one percent about anything.” That’s quite a statement coming from a man who knew quite a lot and many things. Anyway, that was his perspective and I think it could be true about our knowledge of prayer. We know so very little about prayer, but you don’t have to know very much about prayer to utilize and benefit from it. You may not kn ..read more

Today’s Prayer: WHY DON’T YOU PRAY ABOUT IT?! That sounds so cliche doesn’t it? When you tell someone that, or you do it yourself…you are expecting that God will answer…Why DON’T you pray about it? Yes, of course…why didn’t I think of that. Well, that fact is we can get so frazzled, confused, worried and fearful of a terrible outcome…we forget to pray about it. Shouldn’t that be true with everything? The fact is that we should go to God in prayer with big decisions…maybe even sometimes not so big decisions…the big, and not so big problems we face in life. When we go to God in pra ..read more

Today’s Prayer: WE CAN INSPIRE GOD TO COME NEAR US. Isn’t that what we want? It should be. To know He is near. [Psalms 40:1] “I waited patiently for the LORD; And He INCLINED to me, And heard my cry.” That’s a picture of God leaning in…after we have His attention, to hear what we have to say in prayer. It’s the idea of stopping whatever you’re doing to listen to what someone is saying because it’s important and you want to understand every word. That’s what God does with us when we pray. We can have that affect on HIm. Here’s another way of seeing the impact of our prayer on God ..read more

Today’s Prayer: [Part 2] ‘To pray is the greatest thing we can do’. Being the greatest elevates prayer to the highest of highs…the greatest?…it IS the greatest thing that we can do! King David thought prayer was the greatest thing you could do. All you have to do is read the Psalms, they are filled with an outpouring of prayer. David wrote them out he didn’t just say them. He’s a poet and a communicator of wisdom and in his writing of The Psalms he communicates so very clearly that prayer was the highest priority of his life. He prayed in crisis, when he was being pursued b ..read more

Today’s Prayer: [Part 1] E.M. Bounds said; ‘To pray is the greatest thing we can do…’ That’s quite a statement and if true we need to think about it. If prayer is the greatest thing we can do, how much time, care, discipline and diligence to we apply to it. If you’re going to put something in the single category of the greatest things we can do then you better be giving your all to it. A professional athlete believes the greatest thing he or she can do is win a championship and look at the level of sacrifice they are willing to offer in order to achieve it. The greatest thing man ..read more

Today’s Prayer: PRAYER IS A PIPELINE THAT FLOWS IN TWO DIRECTIONS. It flows from us toward God and it flows from God toward us. We have control of the valve that causes the flow to begin. When we humble ourselves, cry out to God in prayer every morning life begins to flow. Substance that is inside of us needs to get to God. Our love, worship and adoration for God must flow…praise flows after the valve is turned. Our dependence upon Him is declared, our confession of His Lordship over our lives flows and like water that flows through a plumbing system it refreshes God and He takes ..read more

Today’s Prayer: REAL PRAYER AT ITS HIGHEST AND BEST REVEALS A SOUL ATHIRST FOR GOD! Nothing better can be said about the substance of prayer, the achievement of prayer…we are satisfying a deep and longing thirst, and we are plunging into an arena where the soul of man meets God. A Believer should have an insatiable thirst for God. We satisfy our thirst and hunger for God in prayer…and then, it isn’t long before we thirst again and our soul must be satisfied with Him and Him alone. [Psalms 42:1-2] AMP “As the deer pants (longingly) for the water brooks, So pants (longingly) my sou ..read more

Today’s Prayer: GOD IS NOT AN ERRAND BOY AND PRAYER IS NOT MERELY ASKING GOD TO DO OUR BIDDING. As someone said; ‘It is a higher thing than the beggar knocking at the rich man’s door’. “ The word "prayer" really means "a wish directed towards," that is, towards God. All that true prayer seeks is God Himself, for with Him we get all we need. Prayer is simply "the turning of the soul to God.” David captures it perfectly; [Psalms 25:1]
“To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.” When we lift up our souls to God in prayer it gives God an opportunity to do what He wills in us and with us. H ..read more
