Quiet time at the Regal Cat Cafe
Calgary Journal
by Bella Coco

For the first and last hour of the day, Regal Cat Cafe dims the lights and stops the music in their cat room for “quiet time.”  For those who prefer a more low-key experience with the furry friends of the cafe, quiet time is the perfect opportunity to get a more relaxed, one-on-one time with all of the cats in Regal Cat Cafe.  About five or six cats wander the emporium — they are available for adoption or have been recently adopted by a new family. There are numerous nooks and crannies for the cats to relax in, and multiple toys for them to play with.       Sigh ..read more

The moon, the eclipse and their astrological significance
Calgary Journal
by Heather Johnston

I grew up with first responders as parents. My mother worked as a nurse and my father worked at the local jail, so hearing them get called out to work in the middle of the night was normal. However, any night there was a full moon, that was when they would get called out the most. I think that’s where my fascination with astrology started. I remember looking out at the moon through my bedroom window as a child and wondering why something so far away seemed to have such a dramatic effect on people at an individual level and was curious to know more about other celestial events and their potent ..read more

OPINION: Why is the internet diagnosing love?
Calgary Journal
by Ava Free

I told my partner I was hungry for an orange and all he did was pass it over to me. According to TikTok, does that mean I need to break up with him?   The internet is diagnosing love, and your relationship might be next on the chopping block.  Peeling an orange is no considerable feat. If you’re like me, you might take it to another level – peeling each and every stringy pith until you’re left with nothing but the smoothest fruit. An act that certainly doesn’t call for any praise.  However, the current trend on TikTok says the metric for relationship health is how we peel ..read more
