Blessed with more than beautiful weather, Concordia held our 20th Annual Golf Classic on July 15 and were surrounded by support from our many sponsors and friends.
Hosted at the Treesdale Golf & Country Club, more than 180 golfers participated in a scramble-style tournament. Combined with a basket drawing featuring 36 phenomenal baskets, a 50-50 drawing and six silent auctions, preliminary reports show the event raised over $140,000.

When Concordia Haven Retirement Apartment resident Flo Bump started the year 2024, she also started a big project: a king-sized, all white, handstitched quilt.
Flo is a member of the Haven Quilt Ladies group, which is comprised of residents who bring their interest and skills together to both create their own works and finish the works of others. They sell most of their work at Concordia events to raise funds for Concordia’s Good Samaritan Endowment Fund, which provides charitable care to residents and patients in need.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, and Concordia always takes this time to reflect on the many ways we can support those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. This year, we’re focusing on our involvement in the national Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. The event, held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Concordia Lutheran Ministries announced the recipient of the organization’s highest employee honor, the Stephen W. Johnson Mission Award, at a banquet and ceremony held in celebration of the award’s 35 finalists.
The award was created by an employee-led committee to honor Concordia’s late Chairman of the Board of Directors, Stephen W. Johnson, who served at Concordia for 19 years before passing away in 2020. Karen Daum was recently appointed Chief Development Officer of Concordia Lutheran Ministries. A graduate of Grove City College, Daum worked at Concordia from 2006 to 2018 in a different role before serving as major gifts officer, senior major gifts officer and vice president of development and communication for two other western PA non-profit organizations.
