Open Arms Church now leads a weekly program for residents on Friday mornings. A conversation sparked by a mustache has led to an uplifting ministry for residents of an assisted living facility in Delaware.  Pastor Brian Litzenberger, whose distinctive mustache caught the eye of one of the facility’s residents during a Fourth of July parade last year, was invited to speak at the residence after revealing that he was a pastor. The Pathfinder Bible Experience Finals for the North American Division was held in Greeley, Colo. Pathfinders from three Chesapeake Conference churches participated in the North American Division Pathfinder Bible Experience Finals, which was held April 19-20 in Greeley, Colo. The annual event tested Pathfinders on their knowledge of the books of Joshua and Judges. Five teams from the three churches participated in the event, having advanced from the union-level competition on March 9. Werda will serve as the administrative assistant for both departments. Chesapeake Conference recently welcomed Rhonda Werda as the new administrative assistant for the Ministerial and Evangelism departments. Werda’s husband, Jeff, was installed as the pastor of Westminster Church in September. The annual event was held on April 7 at New Hope Church. Over 500 attendees from 23 Pathfinder Clubs participated in the Chesapeake Conference’s Skilloree on April 7 at New Hope Church in Fulton, Md., marking a new turnout record for the conference.  This year’s event was inspired by the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. Perrone comes to the conference from the Northern New England Conference. In April, the Chesapeake Conference welcomed Justin Perrone to the Treasury Department, where he will serve as the conference auditor and associate treasurer.  Perrone comes to the conference from the Northern New England Conference, where he served as an auditor. The students went on a spring break mission trip to Nome, Alaska, home to the famous Iditarod dog-sledding race. While many of their peers enjoyed leisurely spring break pursuits in warm places, a group of 21 students from Highland View Academy chose a path less traveled, venturing to Nome, Alaska, to engage in mission and community service. A $100 Facebook advertisement resulted in a massive community event. Churches organized youth-led outreach and service projects. Chesapeake Conference churches celebrated Global Youth Day on Sabbath, March 16, by turning their focus toward the youth in their congregations and empowering them for service in the community.  Several churches on the Eastern Shore gathered at Dover First Church in Delaware for a Global Youth Day weekend of activities.
