Western Michigan Christian High School and the WMC Athletic Department are excited to announce the hiring of Tyler Ray as the next girls varsity basketball coach.
Tyler Ray is no stranger to the WMC community as he is a 2010 graduate, a 3 time State Champion in basketball and has taught physical education at Grand Haven Christian since he graduated from Cornerstone University in 2014.

Western Michigan Christian High School and the WMC Athletic Department are excited to announce the hiring of Matt Haveman as the next boys varsity basketball coach.
Matt Haveman is no stranger to the WMC community as he has coached the boys Junior Varsity team the last two seasons. Matt and his family are also supporters of Christian education as he has two children that are currently enrolled at WMC.

Christ centered Project Based Learning
Grand Haven Christian (GHC) 4th graders collaborated with Western Michigan Christian (WMC) high school and middle school students to exchange Christ centered project based learning.
GHC 4th grade teacher Dawn Rotman led the project and worked with WMC instructors to coordinate the learning exchange, “I have been wanting to do something at WMC with my students and it was fun to see this take shape. I was excited to see how many classes collaborated with us to make this happen.”

On March 7, seniors Izzy Brower and Autumn Alderink coordinated a blood drive through the Versiti Blood Center of Michigan.
“Thank you so much for hosting the blood drive. It was so AWESOME! These results were incredible and it included 22 new donors,” said Caitlin Gallagher, Senior Account Representative at Versiti, “I hope Izzy and Autumn got a lot out of this project and found it to be a meaningful part of their senior year.”

Western Michigan Christian High School Spanish Immersion students can attend a university and work toward a Spanish minor while at WMC. This is due to our partnership with Calvin University. That program includes a summer off-campus Spanish 305 Cultural Enhancement Class in Merida, Mexico for thirteen days. Objectives include speaking Spanish and experiencing culture in a Spanish speaking country.

“It is my great pleasure to announce that the cooperative agreement for High School Hockey between Grand Haven Public Schools, Spring Lake Public Schools, and Western Michigan Christian High School for the 2023-2024 season is official,” said WMC Athletic Director Ryan Slack.

Tom Kuiper Named Boys and Girls Tennis Coach
Tom Kuiper will lead the WMC tennis program beginning this fall after serving the last two years as Assistant Coach for both the boys and girls teams.
Coach Kuiper played high school tennis at Holland Christian and played in leagues and groups for several years after that at Norton Pines.

Mrs. Newsted‘s 8th grade girls advisory group went to Kids Belong’s Foster Care Share Closet, located in Fellowship Reformed Church, Muskegon. (Kids Belong is a network that supports foster, adoption, and kinship families with supplies but also provides counseling and other services).
The girls spent their time sorting kids’ clothing and hanging them for easy access for those in need. There were lots of “ooohs” and “aahs” over cute baby clothes and even some teen clothing. Some students spent time organizing the racks of clothes as well.
