The Christian Church in Illinois and Wisconsin, in Covenant Partnership with the Christian Church in the Michigan Region, is looking to expand the staff. We are opening a search for an Associate Regional Minister for Clergy and Lay Education. Attached to this letter is a ministry description for consideration.  Our goal is to call a Disciples of Christ minister in good standing to begin this ministry by the end of the calendar year. Click to view slideshow. We had an incredible volunteer work day up at Crystal Conference Center on May 18. However, calling it a day doesn’t quite do what happened up there justice! Starting on Thursday, Jill Forton, Adam Carlson, & Grace Powers brought up a U-Haul of donations for Crystal from Cascade Christian Church that has been used to transform the organization in Roots and the Camp Store (although we’re calling it the office now!) They also donated some of the older things at Camp to Goodwill that will continue to be used by someone who needs it. Grace Powers and Jill Forton stayed ..read more

The upcoming edition, “Through the Looking Glass: Seeing the World Through the Eyes of Faith,” is inspired by Alice’s journey through the upside-down world of Wonderland and focuses on how our faith can guide us in navigating the complexities of our world. It wrestles with our calling to live as representatives of Christ in a world that often demands we live differently and will address questions like: Who is our neighbor? How do we advocate for them? How do we live a grace-filled life? Should we find joy in rest? How are we called to combat materialism and consumerism? How do we own our narr ..read more

A global movement for a world without rape and violence. In every country, gender-based violence is a tragic reality. This violence is frequently hidden, and victims are often silent, fearing stigma and further violence. We all have a responsibility to speak out against violence, to ensure that women and men, boys and girls, are safe from rape and violence in homes, schools, work, streets – in all places in our societies. The campaign is simple but profound. Wear black on Thursdays. Wear a pin to declare you are part of the global movement resisting attitudes and practices that permit r ..read more

Dear Church, Everything begins with gratitude. Thank you all for the support you have given to me over the last 13 years. It was wonderful to gather with so many of you for the retirement party, and to hear from so many of the rest of you through cards, emails, phone calls and well-wishes. Truly, only gratitude for the blessings. Specifically, I want to thank Michigan Moderator Anne McCauslin and CCIW Personnel Chair Anne Ingersoll; Marla McElroy and the team at First Christian, Bloomington; members of our ministry team: Angee Byrd, Alex Ruth, Eli Rolon, Peggy O’Neal, Jeff Parker, Beth Rupe ..read more

From the desk of: Ron Osgood Dear Friend, Back in 2018, the Michigan Region launched the Kickstart 2018 annual giving campaign, visiting churches around the region and asking for individuals to donate regularly to support he operating budget of the Michigan Region — which I did in a small way. Fast forward to late 2021 and I had the opportunity to reassess how I should target my church (Disciples of Christ) giving. Know that the Michigan Region needed financial help and that without a strong regional church individual churches were more likely to fail, I decided to significantly increase my mo ..read more
