Proverb of the Week
Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. - Proverbs 23:23 (ESV)
Jesus is the very embodiment of truth. Jesus said of himself that he is the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, except by him. (John 14:6)
Remember that “buying the truth” is a metaphor. Neither Jesus or the salvation that he brings have a price tag. They are a gift. But to use the metaphor, there is a price involved in growing in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. I would sugge ..read more

Proverb of the Week
Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the LORD all the day.
Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
- Proverbs 23:17-18 (ESV)
This proverb echoes the last of the ten commandments which teaches us to not covet that which belongs to others, but it singles out a particular form of covetousness that seems to consist of envying the lifestyle of those who have profited by ill-gotten gains. It immediately goes on to give the cure for such impulses. That cure consists of fearing, or we might say reverencing, the LORD constantly. Th ..read more

Proverb of the Week
The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life. Proverbs 22:4 (ESV)
Matthew Henry, in his commentary, describes humility and the fear of the LORD as walking humbly with God in reverence to his majesty and authority, submitting with all humility to the commands of his word. Or, we might just shorten that up to say, being a true believer.
It has been suggested that ..read more

Proverb of the Week
The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD. - Proverbs 21:31 (ESV)
Throughout much of history, due to their size and strength, horses provided a huge advantage in war, so much so that Israel was warned multiple times not to put all their faith in them, but rather to put their faith in God. Psalm 20:7 says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”
An obvious application for today, when we see so many abominations being embraced in our land, is that even though w ..read more

There is an epidemic of this in the world today. What was once called situational ethics has, primarily due to the slime of "higher education" oozing down into public schools as it morphed into each person having "their own truth."
Proverb of the Week
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the LORD weighs the heart.
- Proverbs 21:2 (ESV)
In the book of Deuteronomy, Israel is warned against everyone doing what is right in his own eyes, and Proverbs 12:15 even warns that “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes”, In the book of Judges, twice its stated that “In th ..read more

Proverb of the Week
The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all his innermost parts. - Proverbs 20:27 (ESV)
The spirit of man, as spoken of here, may be understood as that aspect of living creatures which separates humans from animals; a self-awareness which transcends the physical body. When this spirit of man searches his own heart to recognize good and evil we might refer to it as his conscience, which is a gift from God given to every man, but not to be confused with the Spirit of God which dwells only withi ..read more

I'm not sure just how this escaped my attention for so long, but I recently noticed a post on the FakeBook group for Mark Wang's True Vintage Dragbike Racing with part three of this story.
As it turns out, even part 3 of the series is labeled "3 years ago" so if this is old news to you, I'm not surprised. However I thought it might be worthwhile to put links to all three of the videos here in one place for those who, like me, have been living under a rock and missed it.
It seems that Matt Walksler is carrying on his father's legacy by making sure that the vintage motorcycles ..read more
