Are you producing Fruit? What’s your favorite fruit? Apples? Oranges? Bananas? What if the fruit was rotten, would you still want to consume it? What if I picked you favorite fruit from a tree that wasn’t the correct tree? For example… what if you favorite fruit was an apple and I told you that I picked it from a cherry tree? Would you still be interested in eating the fruit? Better yet… what if the tree only produced rotten fruit? Would you still want to consume it? Truth is none of it would intentionally consume rotten fruit especially i ..read more

Missional Mandate Being missional is something that is often talked about, lived out by many, but I often wonder how many of us actually understand the grit that it takes to be on mission as a way of life and not just an action every now and then. What if we began to view our mission as followers of Jesus as something that we do on a regular basis and not just an event planned by the local body of believers? What if we began to look at our employment as the mission field instead of where we just collect a check? What if we began to pray Acts 4? Asking the Lord for boldness to proclaim the gosp ..read more

Character Matters For whatever reason, character is something that frustrates followers of Jesus. Especially when you involve scripture. I remember having a conversation with someone about it and they argued that scripture isn’t a book of what to do and what not to do, but serves as a story about a man that we all need. My question to them was simply, what if the scriptures were a collections of words given for a people about a man that they all need and how it should affect their lives? He walked away with aggravation. Do you all need to know about God? Absolutely! Does it affect our lives? A ..read more

Are You Right With God?

Are you right with God? That’s a question that many would say yes to. Simply because knowing that you aren’t, has implications that are really difficult to process. Not being right with God has eternal consequences. Scripture makes clear that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23) The question that we all must wrestle through is what makes us right with God? Know that it is our faith in Jesus that makes us right with God. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not the things around us, our own ability, our wit, nor our dreams that makes ..read more

Change is something that most people desire. I believe that change is something we should not only desire, but also promote. Most would ask the question, How is that possible? Before I answer your question, I believe that it’s important for all of us to know that we can’t change anyone. All we can do is share with them the one who is able to change them. All we can do is promote (encourage) change. How do we promote change through the Good news of Christ? Below I’m going to share with you 5 things that I believe helps us with that. GIVE GOD GLORY IN ALL THINGS.  First, we must be commit ..read more

Considering all of the recent events that are plaguing this culture, I truly believe that it time for those who profess Christ as their Savior to check their pulse. What do I mean? It’s time for us to ensure that if we profess that Christ is our Savior, that we belong to Him.  Are you a genuinely converted, blood bought believer? What do they look like? What should they possess? A few weeks ago at our church, I taught a bible study lesson on this subject using the First Epistle of John (1 John). To really stress my point, I would like to share that lesson with you. If you are a true Chris ..read more

Heart Check

A few years ago, I had the privilege to converse with a young lady who was experiencing some very tough racial issues at her school. Out of 601 young ladies, she was one of two blacks in the entire school. Throughout her years there, she had been the target of racist comments from both parents and students. Hearing her story was heartbreaking because even with all of this, the school did absolutely nothing. Meeting with principals and teachers, nothing happened but false promises and continued disappointment. Several emails were sent, and many conversations were held with staff, administration ..read more
