Joseph Hanaway, MDCM, FAAN The School of Medicine Hanaway Collection is a notable history of medicine collection  donated by Joseph Hanaway, MDCM, FAAN, a retired neurologist in St. Louis, Missouri. While at McGill University’s medical school, 1956-60, Dr. Hanaway discovered the Osler Library of the History of Medicine. He joined the student Osler Society under the Osler Librarian, Wm. Francis (Osler’s cousin), and received an introduction to the history of medicine. He began to collect books on Osler at local bookstores and continued for the next 50 years. We are pleased to announce that the SOM users now have access to JoVE Research, made available by the University Libraries.  JoVE Research includes 13 JoVE Journal titles and Encyclopedia of Experiments.  JoVE provides access to peer-reviewed videos of laboratory methods and science concepts.   Ruth Riley, Assistant Dean for Executive Affairs and Director of Library Services, has announced her retirement effective June 3, 2024. Ruth has served as the Director of Library Services since 2000 and as Assistant Dean for Executive Affairs since 2012. Steven Wilson, Web & Outreach Librarian for the School of Medicine Library and Coordinator for the Center for Disability Resources Library, exhibited at the first annual "AutismConnect 2024" conference on April 23, 2024. The School of Medicine (SOM) Library hosted a dedication on March 5, 2024 of the medical apothecary case donated by Mrs. Judith Reese Nye, a member of the Library Circle of Friends. The apothecary case was given in memory of Dr. O'Neill Barrett, Jr., Chairman Emeritus of the SOM Department of Internal Medicine and in memory of Mrs. Aimee Gibbes Urquhart Reese by her children, Aimee Reese Kornegay (1937-2023), Judith Reese Nye, Jesse Timothy Reese III, and Mary Reese Burnside.
