PubMed Update: Wildcard Search Improvements

PubMed search syntax now supports expanded use of the asterisk (*) wildcard character. Previously, a wildcard could only be used for truncation at the end of a term or phrase to search for alternate endings. With this update, wildcards can be used in the middle of a term or phrase, and multiple wildcards can be used in the same term or phrase. Joseph Hanaway, MDCM, FAAN The School of Medicine Hanaway Collection is a notable history of medicine collection  donated by Joseph Hanaway, MDCM, FAAN, a retired neurologist in St. Louis, Missouri. While at McGill University’s medical school, 1956-60, Dr. Hanaway discovered the Osler Library of the History of Medicine. He joined the student Osler Society under the Osler Librarian, Wm. Francis (Osler’s cousin), and received an introduction to the history of medicine. He began to collect books on Osler at local bookstores and continued for the next 50 years.   Ruth Riley, Assistant Dean for Executive Affairs and Director of Library Services, has announced her retirement effective June 3, 2024. Steven Wilson, Web & Outreach Librarian for the School of Medicine Library and Coordinator for the Center for Disability Resources Library, exhibited at the first annual "AutismConnect 2024" conference on April 23, 2024.
