The Detroit Bureau
by Paul A. Eisenstein

For Volkswagen, the search for a suitable replacement for the once-iconic Microbus has been a case of try and try again … and then keep trying over and over again. What’s now known as the ID.Buzz made its debut in two-row form in Europe last year. Since the last version of the van was pulled from production 20 years ago, the German automaker has come up with one concept after another. But they all seemed to miss the mark. The Detroit Bureau

New vehicle buyers are often warned to not buy the first year of a new model or a redesign to give the automaker the chance to work out any bugs or issues arising from the changes. The Detroit Bureau
by Joseph Szczesny

If there is a strike in the auto industry this fall, it will be the fault of Detroit’s automakers, General Motors, Ford and Stellantis — the UAW claims — for failing to meet the unions demands for an equitable contract, which repays members and retirees for their sacrifices over the years. UAW’s leadership told its members some about its strategy while using a slew of charts to drive home the points. “The choice of whether we go out on strike is up to the Big Three,” said Margaret Mock, the UAW new Secretary-Treasurer during a Town Hall meeting via zoom arranged by union’s new leadership team ..read more

Compact utility vehicles are the most popular and most competitive segment sold around the world by carmakers.  The 2023 VW Tiguan jumps into an extremely competitive segment as more and more automakers are leaving it.
