A kind gesture….41,071 emails later…. For the last few days, scanning Social Media for no reason apart from it being a habit, the words “Baby Reindeer!” has been appearing on a regular basis from excited people, watching what sounded like a festive film.  Making me wonder why so many are watching a Christmas setting in the middle of April, a quick search made me realise that this dark limited season is far from the season of goodwill that the title suggests. Scottish comedian Richard Gadd who is nothing but sensational in the lead role, takes his own personal experience, in which he once ..read more

CIVIL WAR (2024) Directed by Alex Garland A tyrannical leader wants to overthrow American democracy, and a highly polarised public is at each other’s throats. Riots and violence are breaking out, and people have lost trust in the system. But enough about the news – let’s focus on Alex Garland’s fourth film. Civil War is the director’s stab at a dystopian thriller, in which an unlikely coalition of armed militants from Texas and California have formed a resurgent movement known as the Western Forces and are closing in on a fascist president. We follow a group of journalists, led by the battle ..read more

Another day, yet another Found Footage horror from 2018, which will have lovers of the genre, smiling at the simplicity on show, but for others, frustrated by the shaky ending….. Its always hard to review a Found Footage horror after there have been so many to hit the market, with nearly 95% all offering the same blueprint to what we have seen countless times before. If you are now sick of the format and believe its a dying breed then films like The Lost Footage Of Leah Sullivan will no doubt leave you cold and you’ll have no interest in watching, but if you are like me and s ..read more

UNITED PENGUIN KINGDOM Developed by Turquoise Revival Games Published by GrabTheGames and UpgradePoint Available on Steam City building sims are one of those games that often have a hardcore following. The time required to ensure your village or city grows in the way that you’d like, minimising loss (whether that’s physical loss, financial loss or loss of assets) whilst balancing growth and happiness of inhabitants is no mean feat. Games like Farthest Frontier, a city building game I reviewed last year about growing a settlement, can be quite difficult to master but if you like this sort of g ..read more

AMONG ASHES – PC Demo Review

Among Ashes, by one-man game studio Rat Cliff Games, caught my interest amongst the flood of horror gaming titles being release due to its retro-setting. The year is 2001, the early stages of the internet where it was becoming more accessible by the masses and with that the connections being made over internet message boards and various programs. The rise of the best Windows operating system to date also took place that year and thankfully that too gets a nod inside the game. Having lived my teenage years throughout this period of time, and having been a keen gamer since I was young, I was ex ..read more

An eye-catching title that sadly the film itself fails to match….. Thanks to its imaginative title. this slasher from 2012, only came to my attention this weekend and I honestly thought I may have missed a precursor to the quite wonderful The Final Girls and I wanted to amend the situation straight away. I mean a film that threatens to set a slasher film within the world of Stephen King is a pretty cool concept, but sadly as the final credits rolled, I realised that I had reached a peak with this film, the moment I read the title. The set up is pretty standard Slasher terr ..read more
