I dig Derek’s cool 1966 Chevrolet C10 shop truck but it needs some love on the induction side to make the straight-six even gooder. I said what I said. I said that this straight-six can be even better. I didn’t say it needed to be LS swapped or something. If you drive a straight-powered machine you will understand. They run smooth, make enough power for a cruiser or local shop truck, and are easy to work on. They are not going to pull a big trailer, they are not going to win drag races, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a great engine if you have one that is in good condition.

Dirthead Dave is fun, mostly because of the variety of stuff that he actually likes. On the show, he was always about off-road stuff, which we love, but there is more to him and that is fun to see on his YouTube channel. In the two videos below you are going to see Dave get his Mustang II on. Yep, he’s getting the worst Mustang ever and he’s going to do something with it. What, we aren’t quite sure yet, mostly because we also haven’t watched the video yet. But we are going to, right now, just like you should. I have a feeling I’m going to be shaking my head a lot here.

It sucks when you grab a drill and try to drill into something that requires some real power and your drill can’t make it happen. Think drilling brackets or a hole into the side of a truck chassis. We’ve all run into this at some point or another, and that’s why I actually have a corded drill just for doing the big stuff. But maybe I don’t need that if I had the right cordless drill. In this video from the Torque Test Channel you are going to see dyno testing going down with cordless drills to see who’s got the best workhorse. Let us know what you think.

If you haven’t once said that you wished you had a CNC plasma cutting table, then you aren’t a car builder. I realize that not everyone can have one, I certainly don’t, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want one. Hell, even if you only need one once in a while you still see them on videos and wish you had one. But what if you could build one yourself, really easily, for around $600 INCLUDING THE PLASMA CUTTER. Brent from Halfass Kustoms was working on such a project recently to see if he could make something work that already had the key elements. And he sorta did. You need to check this out.

Building your first turbo combo, whether it is an LS or not, starts one of two ways. You are either going in headlong with zero hesitation because you’ve watched Richard’s videos and are confident, or you are scared to death and you want to plan each and every detail which takes forever. Somewhere in the middle is actually the smart way to go and with the info you get in this video and all the others from Richard, you can have fun and make real power. Check it out.

While Karl at Make It Kustom does a ton to teach as many metal shaping techniques as he possibly can, he is still a student of the process and that means he’s always wanting to learn even more himself. In this video he’s going to Bespoke Coach Works in Australia to work on a panel for a Rolls Royce, using a power hammer, that needs a bunch of linear stretching. This is a technique that might not be the most common when it comes to shrinking. Check it out, and let us know what you think, and hopefully this will inspire you to get out in the shop to master some new skills.

Sometimes building custom parts for the interior of your classic car or truck can be fun, and other times it can be so daunting because we make it into something bigger than it really is. The intimidation factor is sometimes WAY worse than actually doing it. That’s what happens to a lot of folks when they are considering building a custom center console for their classic truck. I own a square body dually and I can tell you that the factory center console is cool looking, but not nearly as functional as we expect consoles to be nowadays. So what should you do? Modify the stocker? Or build somet ..read more

Everyone knows that a 455-powered Trans Am is something special, especially if it is a 1970 or 1971. What makes some of them even more interesting than they would already be is the fact that Pontiacs, like some Buicks, came in very odd configurations. Odd how you ask? Column shifted 455 Trans Am weird. I mean, who the hell orders that? This doesn’t make any sense, but that’s what make this oddity so cool. And the fact that someone started a repaint and restoration 40 years ago and never finished it is also weird but cool. So check it out and let us know what you think.
