If you are looking for a rocking and enthusiastically fun time, you need look no further than The Buffalo Jones and the Heard band. While the BJH band was initially formed in 2012, it has had a variety of cast and character changes as well as times of hiatus along the way. But these guys are rocking along now and building momentum, creating a whole new vibe of “ya’ll-ternative” that is reminiscent of the early days of the Red Dirt Scene. They have a whole “everyone’s in the band” mentality, which is how the first generation of the red dirt scene did it and it means you may not even see the sam ..read more

The Great Divide Providence Album Review

The definition of Providence is the protective care of God or of nature as a spiritual power, and I feel like using this title for the much anticipated and equally celebrated new album of The Great Divide was spot on.      There’s no need to dig deeply into the history of The Great Divide here, we all know it, and whether their very name was a premonition of the path they were taken on for the last several decades, or mere synchronicity, we may never really know. However, it was fitting all the same, as the band broke and then came back together. T ..read more

NEW YORK – October 28, 2022 – Back in the late 90s and early aughts, The Great Divide helped set the Red Dirt scene: the band was playing 200 shows a year and released five albums together, they signed a record deal in Nashville, and Garth Brooks recorded one of their songs. To say they made a mark is putting it lightly–if you were to poll musicians making music in Oklahoma and Texas at the time, it’s likely The Great Divide was on their list of influences. Nearly 20 years after their last album together, the band is back to release Providence, out today.     "Th ..read more

Chad Sullins was working on a new album at Studio E with Eric Hoffman when he passed away in June of 2021. While many of us hoped the recordings he left behind would find their way to a new album, ultimately, we weren’t sure what would become of them. However, Hoffman has decided to finish the songs and release an album, much to everyone’s delight.      The announcement from Hoffman came on October 7th, Chad’s birthday, and they jumped right in and feverishly began working on the songs in the studio.      Hoffman was a longtime ..read more
