I loved this cottage and tried to get the owners to let me help them restore it. They wanted "new" and could not see the potential in this magical place. A client of mine bought it so I had the opportunity to help move and save it and restore it. I wish it could have been restored where it sat because it has to be brought up the code and raised up. Here are a few finished photos. I will post the before photos on the next post ..read more

Maddies Seaside Cottage looks tiny ..feels tiny.. but has a surprise in store when you turn the corner off the living room. It was a porch with no view(condo's went up behind the little cottage) .  I replaced the 6 old sliding doors ( but kept the original transoms) put wood on the walls and added 2 new atrium door that leads to the fun deck and outdoor shower. The headboards came from the attic of TS Chu department store. I left the  sale tag on one of the headboards but it got painted blue  by mistake when it got painted. Add caption I found the fabric for ..read more

It is now time to get serious about the colors of the cottage  called Maddies Beachside Cottage. The owners have left all decisions to me to select the color and fabrics and furniture. There is one large pecan tree on the property and shades and trees are always a consideration when selecting colors. The ocean is 1/2 block away ( the "information hut" I designed for the city of Tybee) is close by location! location! location!  I had thought about bright and Happy colors……………………. accents against a white cottage Definitely a funky outdoor space ..read more

It is now time to begin the fun part of my job. Give the cottage and new happy personality by selecting the colors  furnishings and fabrics. The first thing you will see when you open the front door is the back of the barstools….a good place to begin. Here are a few of my other projects with bar stools front and center. It isn't that I am such a hugh fan of them but in small space it makes for  a good conversation location  and additional seating. Spring is in the air which means it's almost porch sitting weather. We southerners love  two things...sweet tea and porches. Indeed they are a staple in the south. After a long day, it's so relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the world go by. They're the perfect place for an afternoon nap or to sit with a friend and catch up on life. Big, small, sleeping porches or screened in porches I love them all. Just one look at these photos and you will see why we love love them so much. Here are just a few images I've had the pleasure of designing.    ..read more

My friend Leonard Miller passed away in January. He and I worked together on so many many fun and happy projects. Leonard was one of the bright and shining stars that heaven sent my way to help me create magic and happiness. Here is a photo of him working on the garage doors at the Pink Zebra Cottage on Tybee Island. The finished project….He painted the outdoor shower, all the shutters, the sign on the front of the cottage.. After the project was completed, He looked at me and said "I do believe we have created another "one of a kind "in the universe" Sweet and Peaceful Dreams on Tybee ..read more
