Girls in a band cry. This show RULED SO HARD. Where do I even start? You all know girls in bands are not my favorite things. But crying? Fuck yeah count me in. This story is so emotional. But never in a trite and expected way. I especially love how our protagonist, Nina, wears her heart on our sleeve. She is not afraid to tell people what she thinks and is stubborn and never backs down and pisses everyone off. She stars off the show giving everyone the middle finger. More dating. I loved the earlier seasons of this show but it really outwore its welcome. There are just two many girls. They could have easily done without that stupid loli, the idol, the witch, the mangaka, Tohka (I wish) and probably a few others I’m forgetting. It was hard to keep track of everyone, much less care, especially with this series spanning over a decade. The new season did not disappoint, bringing back all the greatest hits: We get another year of Serious Adults trying to murder people at the high school sports festival, which features the dumbest most boring games ever invented (and I say this as someone who has played baseball) The high school science festival is back, and Tatsuya must once again save it by murdering the Chinese!!! Cute girl failures form an art collective. I quite liked this— it’s a very emotional story, seeing all of the different struggles these people have and how they come together to deal with them. My favorite was the episode they introduced Kuiui which actually made me cry. I was a bit confused by the whole premise— they are a group with all these different talents, but they seem to mainly focus on singing which is only the one girl’s talent? Train journey through a transformed magical world. It’s visually gorgeous and very creative but I felt there wasn’t much there in terms of substance. Which is fine, just I thought it could have been more than it was. The plot is superficial, the characters are quirky but lack depth. Many of the train stops are creative and interesting but again, what is the show trying to say? I felt like no one thought about that much, they just wanted to show off their creativity and the animations. Our heroes continue to be pathetic losers. I love this show. Season 3 did not disappoint. Anime comedies often… are not very funny… but konosuba has always had me laughing. It follows a simple formula of coming up with four characters who are complete morons in their own unique ways and just seeing what happens. It continues to deliver. There was a lot to like about this show— stylistically it’s beautiful (and not the typical anime style), the characters are very quirky and don’t go where you expect at all, and the love triangle had an excellent setup. Endless power-ups and harem. This one you knew exactly what you were getting and it delivered it. The main character is so powerful! And gets more powerful forever and literally everyone wants to have his babies. Yeah it’s not very good. The show suffered from a lack of any compelling conflict whatsoever and everyone loving the main character even though he is a total douchebag. Why did I watch this again? Oh right I was drawn in by the cliffhanger at the end of the first episode where the wolf girl transformed into an evil monster and was about to eat a bunch of people. Sadly in episode two the main character tamed her and she became his puppy. Should have dropped it then and there. Utterly forgettable show.
