It was my first time installing KDE through Debian 12, and I couldn't find a good guide on how to install Japanese IME on KDE. This is how I did it.
Update and upgrade the system
sudo apt install fcitx5 and fcitx5-mozc
According to the Arch wiki, fcitx without the 5 is outdated
Search for and go to uim-pref-gtk
Check the "Enable IM switching by hotkey" checkbox in Input Method Switching (second section)
You can change the hotkey switch here from default ctrl + space
Apply and click OK
Go to Input Method, the one with the penguin this time
A keyboard should appear in the lower right-han ..read more

Hello! I was recently playing with some home server stuff, and in trying to mount my remote disk over NFS, I discovered this from a KDE dev:
nfs:// was removed in KF6, for lack of resources porting it to KF6/Qt6 unfortunately.
It may come back if users miss it, please report a bug then, and all those wishing it back please subscribe to it.
I would love to be able to use my remote disks on my KDE Neon desktop. Is there any chance this protocol will make some kind of return? Or is there a newer, better way for connecting to file servers remotely? I'm still pretty new to this realm so I'm not ..read more

I've got two monitors and a I have a single panel that sits on the rightmost edge of one screen. When my mouse is within the monitor which has the panel, press the meta key opens the application panel like you would expect, however when my mouse is on the other screen that doesn't have the panel (it has no panels at all so there's no conflicts or anything like that) the meta key no longer opens the application panel.
Is there a setting or something which allows me to use the meta key to open the application launcher regardless of where my mouse is?

Let's say you open a folder with thousands of items in Dolphin. Now you click at the bottom of the scrollbar, it used to scroll "a page" down. Now it's like you pressed the "end" key. Same thing for firefox.
Any idea what caused this? I updated to Fedora 40. X11.

Hi, my main workhorse laptop runs Windows 11 because there's a few professional softwares that keep me tied to it, so the most convenient way for me to run Linux is inside a VM, currently Fedora 40 KDE just released. With 8GB of allocated RAM and full capacity of Ryzen 7 5800H CPU with graphical acceleration enabled, Plasma 6 Wayland runs mostly well but there is some sluggishness all around opening menus or launching programs, some animations also lagging. On the same settings, GNOME 46 Wayland runs smooth it almost seems native speed. Does anyone have a clue of any potential configurations ..read more

Hello KDE community! I'm having a problem with the overview function (Meta+G). My current monitor setup is: main monitor, second monitor and a TV which is a replica of the main monitor. The second monitor overview works fine, but the main monitor doesn't show anything when the TV is not turned on during this session. Any help would be appreciated
