5-star guard Jasper Johnson announced his top 5 schools heading into the latter portion of the 2024 summer. Unfortunately, Johnson’s top five did not include Illinois basketball. Johnson named North Carolina, Louisville, Arkansas, Alabama, and Kentucky as the five schools he will consider. Illinois Basketball: Kasparas Jakucionis Had a Big Day For Lithuania U18 Soon-to-be Illinois Basketball Freshman Kasparas Jakucionis had himself a heck of a game for the Lithuanian U18 team. According to Arman Jovic of PDT Scouting, the future Illini was able to drop 22 points versus the Spain U18 international squad. Certainly, Kasparas displayed his high-level scoring abilities, knocking down several 3-point shots from the wing. Illinois basketball’s roster has now fully arrived on campus. Per his Instagram page, big man Tomislav Ivisic has officially arrived at the Illinois campus. After an extended wait with the entire process that is required for an overseas citizen to arrive at a college campus, Ivisic completes the Illini’s roster. He will now immediately join team activities and hopefully be up to speed by the time the fall rolls around. Former Illinois Basketball commit Jeremiah Fears announced on his social media that he is committing to the University of Oklahoma. Fears reopened his recruitment earlier in the month of July after buzz grew that he wanted to reclassify into the class of 2024. That will now be the case as Fears will enter the class of 2024 and suit up for the Oklahoma Sooners during the 2024-2025 season. Former Illini Quincy Guerrier was finally able to see the floor in the 2024 NBA Summer League. Guerrier is on the Toronto Raptors, however, did not see the floor during the first two games. In the past week, however, he did see the floor for some spot minutes. During his first game, Guerrier logged six minutes of action.
