Wouldn’t you know it, but turns out the guest bath, the one that I’ve never really even used, is quite possibly my favorite now that it’s done. So today we are recapping where we are in the house because I’m sure a lot of you might not even remember and then I’ll hit you with the reveal (we JUST shot it). It turned out very different than the original vision but I love it so much. As a reminder, this is the guest bath off the guest room upstairs. That floorplan is a bit weird because it’s showing you the downstairs footprint underneath the second floor so ignore all the kitchen, deck, TV ro ..read more

Well, well, well. If it isn’t the whimsical, traditional bathroom that we all knew I was going to choose. Who guessed right?? Whose bummed I didn’t go with floor-to-ceiling checkered tile?! I tell you who isn’t, and that’s my wallet. Designing the bathroom of your dreams is one thing – pricing it out, sadly, is another.  Welcome back to the second installment of this bathroom makeover. If you missed yesterday’s post, you can go back and read it here, but I’m afraid some (all) of the mystery might be spoiled for you. Or maybe not, who knows! That in itself is a mystery enough. Let’s qui ..read more

First things first – I did, in fact, have a living, breathing, REAL HUMAN baby. He was born via c-section after a short 60 hours at the hospital. His name is Elio, and I might be biased (probably not though, right?), but he is the most perfect human ever created.  Eventually our front bedroom will be his room, and I can’t wait to make it special for him. But in the most boring reality of realities, right now he shares a room with us. And Macauley’s need for an office supersedes Elio’s need for a bedroom-sized storage container. But the connected front bathroom was something that we want ..read more

I’ll start this post by confirming what some of you have guessed – yes, I am having a baby. We are literally on “baby watch” right now. At the time of writing this post, his due date is tomorrow. So fingers crossed, by the time you’re all reading this, we’re changing diapers and losing sleep. But this is exactly the reason I needed to make our primary bedroom the cozy, fairytale of my dreams. I know a lot of people find joy in decorating a nursery. But as a self-preservation type 1 (IYKYK), the truth is he is going to be bunking with us for a while. And I’m going to be spending a lot of time ..read more

How We Designed And Built Our Arched Medicine Cabinets (And Where To Buy Them Now)

I had a simple request that turned out to be NOT so simple and it warrants a huge post (with a big twist at the end). I wanted a medicine cabinet in our bathroom, BADLY, but I also wanted an arched mirror with pretty tile on top. I have never had a medicine cabinet and yet I’m very messy AND I also hate clutter – I’m a real peach!!! A few years ago I wrote one of our most highly trafficked posts ever – why designers hate medicine cabinets, so this might seem odd to want one so bad. But it’s not that we don’t like the function of a medicine cabinet, we just like beautiful mirror details more ..read more

Primary Bath Recap + A Layout Hiccup I Haven’t Shared Yet That Totally Freaked Me Out

Our beloved bathroom has been “done” for a good while and yet besides a few sneak peeks, I haven’t done a real show and tell. Why? Well, the huge windows (prior to window treatments) really highlighted the construction outside so we had to hold the photo/video until that was done…and then I reshot it because I didn’t like how I styled it. Also, I had to troubleshoot a more permanent change that I wanted to make (that I didn’t). But she is done, shot, and in the can. So over the next few days, we’ll recap where we are, where we came from, and get into some of the juicy details that I haven’t ..read more

Welcome to the final and equally magical space in Anne and Richard’s Washington Coast home. If you missed the other three posts we covered the open-concept kitchen, dining and living room, the main suite, and lastly the lofted bunk rooms. It’s impossible to pick a favorite space so I will just say that this bathroom is also SO SPECIAL. Even just looking at the cropped photo above you get the design wind knocked out of you a bit. If a bathroom can be romantic this one might be the most. The power of this copper tub is out of this world! It was purchased from Signature Hardware but this exact ..read more

It’s hard not to immediately fall in love with this home’s open-concept kitchen/dining/living space but for me, this was the room, the main suite, that really took my breath away. The softness, the textures, the textiles! It all just feels like a deep exhale. If I didn’t need to eat I wouldn’t leave this room while staying here. It’s unpretentious yet is filled with so many special details. This view being maybe one of the biggest highlights…well until you see the other side:) Shall we?? First, let’s talk about this bed! I, of course, had to ask Anne (who co-owns ARCIFORM and Versatile Wood ..read more

The Farmhouse Kids’ Bath Deep Dive – Our Vintage Dresser Turned Custom Vanity

One of my favorite (best?) moves is to bring vintage into every room (obviously), but it’s harder to do in bathrooms aside from styling. I’m not sure if this idea was born out of desperation (I don’t have a vanity but I have this dresser, ok!) or if I had planned this from the beginning but I know this much – I intentionally didn’t get a readymade vanity in the hope of using something vintage. I love this English pine antique dresser so much (the keyholes) so when I was asked what our plan was for the vanity I thought, “Uh, would this work?” and we went for it. photo by sara ligorria-tramp ..read more
