The National Debt in Perspective

U.S. government borrowing and spending never stops. The federal government ran another big deficit in June, as the national debt inches closer to $35 trillion. $35 trillion. Trillion with a ‘T.’ That’s an unfathomable number. It’s meaningless to most people. We simply can’t comprehend a number that big. Let’s try to put the $34.9 trillion national debt into perspective. According to the National Debt Clock, every American citizen would have to write a check for $103,565 to pay off the national debt. Of course, a lot of people don’t pay taxes. That means the taxpayer burden is much higher. Ever ..read more

“A frightful despotism” – that’s what George Washington predicted we’d get with a combo of factions and usurpation of power. But he was far from alone in warning against what leads to political violence. Ignoring their warnings – and solution – only guarantees the worst has yet to begin. One of the most important foundational documents in American history, the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 is one that most people never learn about. Following principles outlined by Thomas Jefferson in 1784, it included a precursor to the bill of rights four years before one was added to the Constitution, it banned slavery in the territories decades before the same language was copied into the 13th Amendment, and led to the creation of the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. The Constitution is supreme, not any old law Congress decides to pass. In fact, anything the federal government does beyond the delegated powers in the Constitution is VOID. And it’s void from the moment it’s enacted. Stealing Power: Unconstitutional Laws are VOID Federal laws that go beyond the Constitution aren’t actually laws at all. They’re VOID – and are what the founders called usurpations, or a theft of power.@mmaharrey10th pic.twitter.com/jgQ4Gavjcr — TenthAmendmentCenter (@TenthAmendment) June 14, 2024 FOR MORE INFORMATION Acts Against the Constitution are Void The Supremacy Clause ..read more

Don’t be misled by President Biden’s statement on the Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity. As reported in The Hill, Biden stated: “For all practical purposes, today’s decision almost certainly means that there are virtually no limits on what a president can do. It’s a fundamentally new principle . . . It’s a dangerous precedent, because the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law, even including the Supreme Court of the United States.” These comments are provably false. Here are the facts: Even before this decision, most experts believed the Presiden ..read more
