Tell us a little bit about you and your background. I graduated from Montclair State University  with a degree in Animation/Illustration but I like to work experimentally with different materials. I am currently pursuing a masters in clinical psychology with a concentration in Art therapy.    What attracted you to work at One River School? I’ve worked in customer service for a very long time but was given the chance at One River to use my art and communication skills in education. I had taken the summer after graduation to rest a bit and was notified by a friend that One River h ..read more

How long have you been a student at One River? I have been a student at One River since Fall 2021, and I’ve  attended Summer Camp here for the last 2 years. I was originally in the Digital Art Shuffle class, then I signed up for the Animation class as well. I figured Animation would be a good skill to have since I want to be a character designer. The Portfolio class is my first traditional art class here. I love that we are able to work on and develop our own projects and I love seeing the variety of work that my classmates make.    Tell us a little bit about your journey a ..read more

Summer Camp Fridays @ One River

One of the coolest things about our summer camp experience is the Friday Exhibition / Recap. Parents and friends join us at all of our schools and our student campers get to present their artwork / outcomes. What makes this most fun for me is hearing our Teens and kids present in their words what they learned and what the experience was like. Besides growing as artists, this experience allows our members to demonstrate tremendous growth in their ability to present their thoughts and ideas… incredibly valuable skills that are just another one of the rewards of Summer Camps at One River School ..read more

It has been almost 250 years since we declared our independence. I am grateful to be an American and notwithstanding the challenges we face today, we continue on our journey as a country that is continuing to evolve and to do its best across a magnitude of complicated topics. Having said that, as an art educator I am enamored with the evolution of incredible artwork that celebrates our history and I wanted to share one of my favorites with you. Jasper Johns created “Three Flags” in 1958 and said that he painted the flag time because it came to him in a dream. He also was interested in painting ..read more

For the last 20 years, I’ve invested my life in creative education, and I have seen the blessing of what it can do for adults and kids through the lens of my experiences as CEO of School of Rock and One River School. The metaphor, “grow or fold”, is a concept that I have grabbed onto and it offers some compelling things to think about. I am thrilled to share that I am in the final stages of completing my first book which will be available next year and the current working title is “Grow or Fold”. The story is a prescriptive memoir that shares a bit of my journey with a recipe for helping other ..read more

Take a look at the image. The smile and the pride on our student’s face. The artwork on display. And, our bold statement above.   I often ask parents, “what would make a difference in your kid’s life?”  And, quite often I hear a blend of: “I want them to be happy”, “I want them to grow and learn”, “I want them to build confidence”, “I want them to have fun” and “I want them to be successful”. Having spent the last 20 years building creative education businesses including the School of Rock and One River School, it has been a blessing to do our part to help a generation of people to b ..read more

Tell us a little bit about you and your background. Since a young age, creating has always been an outlet for me. I believe my art practice is such a crucial part of living a healthy lifestyle. I received my Bachelors of the Arts at Manhattanville College with a Major in Studio Art and a Minor in Psychology. Throughout my studies, I specialized in examining how having extracurricular hobbies such as art, music, and fitness, impact an individual’s health. I specialize in both mixed media and digital media. She has been doing commission work and participating in exhibitions for over 7 years. &nb ..read more
