Currently hanging up outside our high school auditorium is a mural titled “EC Reflections.” The 3X5 cards surrounding it were handed out to high school students during a recent chapel. What is a spiritual goal you want to work on or that you have recently implemented? Here are just a few of the hundreds of reflections: “I have gotten into the habit of making sure ..read more

Throughout the decades, EC teachers have worked tirelessly to educate and nurture thousands of students, preparing them to be people of faith, vision and influence for God’s glory. This Teacher Appreciation Week, we say a special thank you to all of them. In a recent letter, the foundation asked some of our alumni and parents to share their words of encouragement or their fondest memories from their time at EC so that we could honor and remember our faculty, past and present. Here is just a sample of what you shared with us: During my sophomore year of high school, I came down with pneumonia a ..read more

It feels a bit cliche to speak about the horrible, negative years of middle school. Every adult can likely draw up memories that bring a shudder, a groan, or a quick change of subject. Of course there are the others that also bring a chuckle, but those are often at someone else’s expense. As parents, these memories can cause us to look with dread upon our children who are approaching their teen years, as if we are projecting our bad experiences onto them and anticipating the worst of all possible scenarios. Why are these years so difficult for us as humans to progress through? I’ll suggest 10 ..read more

Nehemiah 3 details the biblical story of how individuals split the workload, and together built a wall. In this vein of thinking, Eastern Christian School administrators unveiled a Nehemiah “mini-grant” program last spring, which invited staff members to pitch their ideas. The desire was that through this initiative, school administrators could better equip our staff to build their sections of the wall.  In the end, four staff proposals were accepted and approved for funding. Here is where each project stands now: Model UN, Soli Nieves, Marchelle Roniet, James Uitermarkt Eastern Christian ..read more
