So far in this series, we have looked at the idea of being a Functioning Church Member and a Unifying Church Member. Last week, we drove home the idea that to be a church, the members must be unified. Without unity, the different parts of the body of Christ (the church) don’t function properly. Today, we will look at the idea of not letting your church be about your preferences and desires. So often, people treat church like something that they purchase. They see their offering as their payment for what they like. Some shop aroun ..read more

Last week, we looked at the idea of being “A Functioning Church Member.” We can define this person as someone who does what God designed them to do. God has designed you to worship Him corporately, and He has designed you to edify or build up your brothers and sisters in Christ by using the gifts, talents, and abilities that He has blessed you with. Are you a Functioning Church Member? Today, we will switch gears and look at the idea of being “A Unifying Church Member.” Unity is something that modern society knows little about. We see ..read more

Today, we begin a six-week sermon series on Church Membership. This is a subject that we don’t talk about much at PFBC. This is somewhat by design as I have witnessed pastors pressure people to join the church. After seeing the effect that church-hoppers have on congregations, I have chosen not to pressure people to join. I don’t want to try to muscle in on the Holy Spirit as He leads. I encourage you to read a chapter of the little book: “I Am A Church Member” each week before our Worship Service. There are six chapters, and we have ..read more

The idea of our heart reflecting who we are can be a scary thought. It really shouldn’t be, but at times we want others to think much of us. My prayer for months has been for PFBC to be sincere. If we are truly saved, our hearts have been changed. By the blood of Jesus, our hearts have been cleansed. My prayer is that we will Reflect Jesus More in 2024! Over the last two weeks, we have dealt with how we receive Compliments and Criticism. Today, we will extend this out to how we deal with Counsel. This isn’t a dirty word. Counsel ..read more

Here we are, 2024! A New Year, and hopefully not the same old bad habits. May we all live healthier this year, mentally, spiritually, and physically. Today, we begin our Verse of the Year 2024 sermon series. Over the next few weeks, we will be taking a look at three things that help to mold our character. How do we deal with: Compliments, Criticisms, Counsel. lIf our hearts are going to reflect the love of Christ, we are going to have to put “self” by the side and seek to be holy because God is holy. If our hearts are going to reflect the ..read more

Last week, we introduced the 2023 Verse of the Year. Matthew 5:37 says: Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. We chose this verse because the church needs to take seriously what she says. When the individuals of the church speak and truth, we build a good reputation in society. When those outside the church trust us, they will be more apt to listen to the Gospel when we share It. Today, we will talk about something that we often make but rarely keep: Resolutions. One may say that making and breaking Resolutions isn’t a big deal; ever ..read more

Last week, our message title was: Better Than GPS. The main idea of our time together was that the Holy Spirit is infinitely better than one of the best inventions of mankind, the Global Positioning System - GPS. Today, we will look at the idea of being free to do good. The law of the land says: You scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours. The law of Christ says to love your neighbor as you love yourself. I hope that our time together will benefit you in your walk with Christ. May you seek to make Him known wherever you are. Our message for today is titled: “We are Free to do Good” Our points ..read more
