Earlier today I received an promo email from Wizards of the Coast’s PR Team. The hype machine for the 2024 rules update has been going pretty steady now for a while, so not much of this will be new for anyone who has been following along. If you aren’t sure if the 2024 rules are for you, the free version of the rules can be found on D&D Beyond with limited options but everything you need to run the game. […]

You’ve probably seen an enormous amount of coverage of the new Player’s Handbook all across your Usenets and your BBSes, but this is surely the first one coming to you live and uncensored from your very favorite website. I bet your pal who went to GenCon has already faxed you all the juicy deets, but I? I’ve got a hot new technomagic here called a blog. Gotta keep with the times, that’s what I always say! …anyway. I’ll do more […]

Today I want to tell you about another Kickstarter that is running right now: The City of Arches: A High-Fantasy 5e RPG City Sourcebook by Sly Flourish, the double secret code name of Mike Shea. I know Mike mainly through the many episodes of the Tome Show that he appears on, including the excellent Behind the DM’s Screen series, but he also has a lot of great products that you very likely already know and love. (This Kickstarter is a […]

I hope you’ll take some time today to check out the Kickstarter for Moonsoon, to be published by Arcane Minis. Not just because it’s a great, colorful project infused with tons of imagination, not just because I worked on it, but also because it shares a lot of the seafaring high adventure sensibilities of Tribality’s Seas of Vodari setting. From the Kickstarter page: Moonsoon is a brand new 5th edition campaign setting packed with over 600 pages of amazing content! […]

My review copy of Bigby’s Big Book of Big Bois is here, and for the first time in a long time, I’ve actually got a little time to write about a new release! (Okay, I’m still working my way through the last UA packet, whatever.) As you undoubtedly know, this book is intended to do for giants what Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons did for the scaly bois. The Elephant in the Room Just to get this out of the way: I […]

Onward to the cleric! You can find my article on the UA Bard here. As we go on, keep in mind that this is UA’s second shot at all of its classes except the Monk. Cleric For my comments on the previous iteration of the cleric, clicky clicky. Divine Order has dropped down to 1st level, as I suggested that the Holy Order feature (its predecessor) absolutely had to. They also trimmed out Scholar and shoved the most important piece […]
