I just sent the first draft of Insurrection to my editor as the start to the editing process. This update is to make you aware that progress is being made and I met the deadline set for me to write two books by January 10th. It is also to let you know that my long-time editor, Tammy Salyer, is moving on from most of her editing duties and back to writing. It is a great choice for her, but I’ll miss working with her. She has been both and editor and a teacher, a rare combination. Insurrection continues the Records of the Argos. This time however, they are not on an assigned mission. Instead, t ..read more

Wizzy, the AI of the Argos would like to speak to you.

As you probably saw last week, Retribution, Records of the Argos, Book Two will be launching soon. While many of us tried to convince Wizzy not to record a video, he did anyway. It was too difficult to stop it so we just gave in. To be truthful, he tried this a few weeks ago but the Earth technology did not cooperate. Wizzy was ready to just broadcast this worldwide on every channel possible, but we told him it would be more special this way. He liked that. You can see the video Here. Pre Order at www.michaeljfarlow.com Some of you have asked about the next book, Insurrection. I’m happy to sa ..read more

Retribution has launched!

It’s Here!! Wizzy is excited to tell you that Retribution, Records of the Argos, Book Two has launched. Listen to him Here. It seems that it has taken forever for this to happen. It hasn’t, of course, but it has been a challenge in the making. This is always a great day for any author. Work, work, work … then show it to the world. I don’t think the excitement ever goes away when this happens—until a few days later, when you realize the next one is just around the corner, and there is still a mountain of work ahead as the cycle repeats. In a few days, I’ll refocus on Insurrection. But for ..read more

Insurrection Has Launched!

The whole process of getting Insurrection out the door has been different. Starting with my main editor leaving the editing business right up to yesterday when Amazon would not accept the print book. It was a peculiar Amazon rule that I had never encountered, but today the book is on the way. It may lag the eBook by a day or so, but it will be out, and the print book and eBook will be on the same Amazon page. Of course, Wizzy is excited and will tell you about the book HERE. The next book is slow to develop. I think I mentioned that the initial title is Renegade. If I continue with it, the wh ..read more

Retribution is on track!

Things are moving along on schedule with the launch of Retribution on November 7. I have noted on several venues that the book can be pre-ordered now. One reader went online and found that refers only to the eBook. That is correct. Unlike past launches, Amazon has changed its procedures and no longer offers pre-orders for print books. I haven’t a clue why. About the only thing I can do is start the print book a little early so both are available on November 7th.  Go with the flow, I guess. I should be getting the line edit of Insurrection back on October 24th, about a week from now. I ha ..read more

Retribution is only one week away!

One week until Retribution launches. I’m getting excited. Over a year’s worth of work is about to be released. If you read Crucible, then get prepared for the next big adventure of the Argos and its crew. Amini reminds you that time is now flying by. Here Next week, Wizzy is dying to speak up again and claim the story as his success. In part, that is true. However, in addition to Captain Nick and his crew, there are a lot of people in the background making this happen— editors, Beta readers, and designers, to name just a few. In any book, never think it is all just the author that makes thing ..read more

Doctor Ramard of the Argos wants to speak to you in a minute.

Two Weeks to Go! When Crucible launched, the Argos’ chief medical officer, Dr. Ramard, got the highest view rate of all the characters, so he is back again for Retribution. We are nearly there. At this two-week point, I’m releasing this video of the good doctor commenting on what’s next. No, this is not an AI generation. He is a real person, and you will hear from him again after the launch on November 7th. Listen to the Doctor Here. Then return to read more. When I launched my first novel, Future Discovered, I was nervous. What would people think of it? Did I do a good job? I’d be lying if I ..read more

Retribution Will Be Delayed
Michael J. Farlow » Military Science Fiction

Yes, Retribution will be delayed. My editor’s comments (all good ones) require a considerable re-write which will take some time. I learned years ago that speeding a book to market is counterproductive when it can be improved. For those of you who have a desire to write (and I hope many of you are), you need to realize that first products are seldom good to go as they are. Typically, my books receive at least four separate edits from different people and two to three Beta reads (from volunteers who read the book and make general comments). Believe me, it can be frustrating at times, but worth ..read more

Mike’s Blog Test
Michael J. Farlow » Military Science Fiction

Last month Google ended a blog management tool called Feed Burner. Unfortunately, I was using it. I also have two RSS feeds going to Amazon and Goodreads. I think those two are still in place. This test will tell me if they are. In a complicated series of events, I also had the blog going out via MailChimp. I’m hoping that MailChimp will take over what Feed Burner was doing. Again, this will tell me if I am right.. However, you are not interested in my technology problems, so let me update you on the progress of Retribution and Insurrection. Retribution has been completed and sent to design. I ..read more
