When I started drafting this review, this book has a single ⭐️ rating. Several months later, the average is up to 3 stars but there is only one additional rating and I just can’t let that stand. I just know it’s better than that. I am unfamiliar with Mark Zirbel, but Planet Bizarro published this ..read more

July reads. Hard to pick a favorite because they were all great. I tore through A Man and His Cat. Cat manga makes me smile. Four very strong horror titles. My review of Cargo motivated the author to go ahead with writing a sequel! How exciting is that?! I don’t know if my ego can ..read more

Remortalised follows a journalist and his cohorts as they venture out on a forgotten island in Vietnam on a mission to help a local woman locate her brother’s remains so she can give him a proper burial. What could possibly go wrong, right? Certainly the island isn’t haunted by the undead who are doomed to ..read more

Every once in a while, an author reaches out via contact form to request a review. Because I am committed to only writing honest reviews, I try to choose books I think I will enjoy. I don’t like writing bad reviews and I know authors don’t like reading them. So I choose books that interest ..read more

April reads. Lots of bizarro, horror, Chainsaw Man, and a couple memoirs. Overall a good month of reading. Thoroughly enjoyed them all. As usual, books with full reviews will be linked, but all have at least a brief review on my Goodreads page. That said, there were some standouts. Her Orc Protector was so good ..read more

Last monthly roundup of the year. I read fewer books this month than usual due to the untimely demise of my kindle and some trouble focusing in general, but I still got to lots of great books. Mantis was my favorite, followed closely by both issues of The Obituaries and The Astronaut Dream Book. Not ..read more

I’m not entirely sure what I expected going into this, but it’s not what I got. Zombie Makeout Club sounds like something out of Tina Belcher’s erotic friend fiction. What I learned, after reading the entire manga and then doing some googling, is that Zombie Makeout Club is a brand of clothing sold at places ..read more

I love zombies. Not as much as Samantha loves them though. Anyone who reads zombies knows that a lot of them are the same. And I love them despite that sameness. But every once in a while you read one that has a little something that makes it stand out. This is one of those ..read more

When I started drafting this review, this book has a single rating. Several months later, the average is up to 3 stars but there is only one additional rating and I just can’t let that stand. I just know it’s better than that. I am unfamiliar with Mark Zirbel, but Planet Bizarro published this one and I have loved everything that I’ve read bearing their name so far so I just know this one will be great as well. I received an eARC from the publisher but eventually purchased the audiobook because I like to read and listen at the same time.
I don’t put content warnings on every review because I ..read more

July reads. Hard to pick a favorite because they were all great. I tore through A Man and His Cat. Cat manga makes me smile. Four very strong horror titles. My review of Cargo motivated the author to go ahead with writing a sequel! How exciting is that?! I don’t know if my ego can take it. Craving in His Blood reminded me how much I like Zoey Draven’s writing. Yeah, it’s spicy, but her storytelling is so good. This book also reminded me that I haven’t gotten around to finishing my review of the first volume, which I also loved. I think I’ll turn it into a double. Nothing too heavy. All super ..read more
