At 06:10 a.m. on April 28th, Great Falls Fire Rescue’s C Platoon was dispatched to a working structure fire at 1217 8th Ave NW. The fire caused significant damage resulting in the home being uninhabitable. American Red Cross has been contacted and is assisting the occupants. All three occupants made it out of the structure and were transported to the hospital for evaluation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Robert W. Jones passed away on April 27, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1958, to Howard Jones and Delores Steffani in Great Falls, MT where he attended school. He worked at Haggerty Motors for 30 years as their lead autobody man and at Bison Ford. Robert’s work was pure artwork, and he always took pride in his work. He married Lori Paulson on July 27, 1985. On April 24th, 2024 at 2:43pm, Great Falls Fire Rescue’s D Platoon was dispatched to a Structure Fire at 1801 6th Street NW. The first engine company arrived on scene just over four minutes after the fire was reported. The fire caused significant damage. The home has been determined to be uninhabitable. The two people and two dogs were able to safely evacuate the house and have made arrangements for a place to stay. The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental. Donald J. Schroer, beloved father, brother, and son, passed away on April 19, 2024, at the age of 85 after a very brief illness. He was born on November 30, 1938, to Sylvester “Smokey” and Jennie Schroer in Great Falls, Montana. He married Esther Kirschmann in 1959, and they proceeded to have four children. They later divorced but remained lifelong friends. They had many adventures traveling across the United States and overseas.
