Age of Darkness Ruinstorm Daemon army The entire Daemonic horde so far! Earlier in the year I was invited to attend a Horus Heresy weekend event hosted by Greetings from the Warp here in the UK to display my Imperator titan and generally just hang out with the attendees. Ira Metallum on tour in Irthlingborough! I was absolutely blown away by the incredible armies in use and the relaxed nature of the narrative weekend. As a result, I was spurred on to get my own army finished so that I could take part myself! Just one of the gaming halls at Greeting from the Warp ..read more

Aliens! Predators! Versus! One hot mamma!  Intro I've had a bunch of Aliens Vs Predator miniatures in my backlog for years and decided that it was time I painted some of them up! The majority of the miniatures I have were produced by Prodos Games before they lost the license to produce the AVP: The Hunt Begins game.  I managed to pick up almost all of the Alien and Predator miniatures along with a few of the Colonial Marines although I very much regret not stumping up for the Drop ship and APC when I had the chance! As well as the Prodos miniatures, I also picked up a few bi ..read more

Festive Freaks Let's hope you've been nice this Christmas... A couple of years ago, I painted up a rather muscular version of Santa to go on my mantle piece at Christmas.  The miniature is Santa Boris from Heresy Miniatures (I urge you to go and buy one of these minis, they are a joy to paint!) and I made a little display for him a 'make your own Christmas ornament' container from a craft store. Hench Santa! Even though I was really happy with Santa, I decided that Christmas could get lonely for the big guy and so I decided to make him a friend (nemesis)!  I'd ben w ..read more

A Dragon Egg!

Something Eggy (and Dragony) In my last post, I showed off the Book Nook I made for my niece Lizzie - this time I'll be documenting the gift I made for my second Canadian niece Anastasia.  As Anastasia loves Dragons, I decided to make her a Dragon egg that she can hatch revealing a tiny baby dragon! Kinder Eggs have improved since I was a kid The Egg Making an egg shape from scratch is annoyingly difficult - even more so when it needs to be rugged enough to be handled and cracked open without destroying it! I decided to use the Worbla / Isopon combination technique that I pioneer ..read more

Back in the swing After a lengthy posting hiatus, I'm finally back with some content!  I haven't been completely idle over the last 6 months and have built up a bit of a backlog, so I'll be trying to post at least once a week for the next couple of months in order to get caught up! My first project from the backlog is actually one I finished quite recently, taking the form of a gift for one of my two nieces who live across the pond in the faraway land of Canada.  My next post will feature the gift for my second niece, but for now, I'll focus on Lizzie's gift... It's a Book that ..read more

End of the year; end of the road! If you go down in the caves today, you're sure of a Trogg surprise...  The Great Troggoth Picnic As 2021 draws to a close, so too does another of my larger projects.  After a couple of years, I've finally finished the Troggoth king and his various stinky subjects! I've really enjoyed working on the Troggoths and may revisit the army at some point in the future.  For now though, I'm happy to call my Troggherd complete and move on to another project. I hope you've enjoyed following my progress on the Trogg king - there were definitely a ..read more

Titan Owner's Club Walk 2021 My engines arrayed for battle! After a couple of years in lockdown, August finally saw Titan owners from across the UK gather for a Titan Walk in Milton Keynes.  Our aim for this year was to hit 100 engines (not counting Knights) in attendance; we fell just short of this, but it was still an absolutely epic weekend!  Here is a small number of photos I took at the event - I'd highly recommend anyone with a Forgeworld Titan registering with the Titan Owner's Club and joining us at the UK walk events as they are amazing! Titan Parade Each ToC Walk ..read more

The Killiest Kill Team! My finished Kroot Killteam - a happy bunch of flesh eating Avian Mercenaries!  I've had the Kroot Farstalker Kinband for Kill Team sat in my to do pile for a while and after completing a couple of other projects I decided that I'd like a small self-contained project that I could complete in a couple of weeks.  I also intended to finally learn the Kill Team rules and have a game! I started by assembling the whole whole squad building all of the specialists in the kit (these form the backbone of the Kill Team game so I'd need all of them!).  ..read more

Battlefleet Gothic - Tau Kor'vattra Fleet & Alien Auxiliaries

Defending the Empire My Kor'vattra fleet with auxiliaries Battlefleet gothic is a game system I dearly love and would say that although, broadly speaking it has more complex mechanics, I prefer it to other fleet based games such as Star Wars Armada.  The main reason for this is that it has a lot more variation, particularly with obstacles, the effects of gravity wells etc.  It's not a perfect game system and definitely has some balance issues (I'm looking at you Necrons...), but on the whole, it's amazing for creating narrative campaigns and special missions.  Planetary ..read more

Ash Waste Nomads Stormcaller I recently completed another Ash Waste Nomad conversion; this time, I converted a Stormcaller for my growing tribe!  I wanted my Stormcaller to look a bit different to the standard Helamite riders, so I opted for a conversion. Build Process The conversion itself was a little more complex than it looks at first glance as there was a fair difference in size when it came to the Kruleboy I removed from the Gnashtoof  I used to make the Stormcaller's mount.  I carved away the majority of the Boos including the legs and some ..read more
