What an amazing way to experience the Beatles final single! We were joined by over 70 guests as we celebrated the legendary band’s last ever single, ‘Now and Then’, gathering at the museum to listen together as it was released at 2pm yesterday, 3rd November. We were also delighted to be joined by two television crews all the way from Japan, who soaked up the amazing atmosphere and interviewed our lovely Friends of the Museum about their thoughts on the new release. This Beatle Week some guests got the privilege of meeting the one and only Pete Best, who hosted a meet and greet at the Liverpool Beatles Museum. Ruth Barton, who later became Ruth Ferenczy, has sadly passed away. Ruth and her family kindly loaned our ‘War is Over’ Christmas card displayed on the third floor. Ruth, having left the War Office, was appointed as Harold Wilson’s secretary in March 1967. Ruth was still in the post in the June of 1969 when President Nixon visited Wilson during the height of the Vietnam War. The Liverpool Beatles Museum was excited to announce another World Premier Reveal on Thursday 27th April showcasing Paul McCartney’s designs for the hottest show in town! Between 1965 and 1969 Brian Epstein leased London’s Saville Theatre, and when one of America’s biggest acts made their UK debut there, Paul was asked to design the stage for their performance.  The  Saville Theatre originally opened in 1931 and is currently a cinema complex. On Thursday 28th September the museum was delighted to host another World Premier Reveal with Pete Best, who unveiled an original drum skin designed by Neil Aspinall featuring the first ever painted logo of the Beatles. The bass drumskin pre dates any other base drumskin known to date. The Beatles were being kicked out of Hamburg, Germany in December 1960.
