Hi, hey and hello It’s the first day of Easter break which means it’s the first day of me having to keep myself entertained for three weeks because literally all of my friends have left town Should I be keeping myself entertained by, ya know, writing my dissertation which is due in a month? Yeah I should, but let’s not talk about that. Instead we’re going to talk about the books I’ve acquired in over the last three and a bit months. Bloodmarked by Tracy Deonn – I am determined to refocus my attentions on the Legendborn series this year. As an incentive for me to re-read that first book, I s ..read more

Publication Date: January 30th 2024 FIVE WOMEN ARE DEAD. The killer leaves no fingerprints, no DNA. Police are utterly stumped. In a world where only women can use magic and the men who know about it seek to eradicate them, three damaged young women – one cursed, one hunted, one out for revenge – will team up to track down and take out a brutal supernatural killer. Jude Wolf is rich as sin and handsome as the devil. But she’s also cursed. Her immortal soul is tethered to a rather hateful demon – and she wants the hell out of the deal. What Jude needs is a cursewriter – and she thinks the stri ..read more

New to me authors of 2023!!

Hi, hey and hello :)) Nothing about me is new and exciting. I stick to what I know and I’m quite happy with that. Case in point: I’ve literally had the same haircut since I was 12 years old. Despite my attempts, I don’t even step out of my comfort zone with books very much. The same can’t be said for authors though. I read so many new authors last year! I literally went back and counted, and of the 81 books I read in 2023, 40 of them were written by authors I’d never read before. That’s literally half of the books I read. Crazy. Today I come to you with a handful of authors whose books I read ..read more

Most Disappointing Books of 2023

Last week I shared my top 10 most favourite books of 2023. Lots of positive vibes over in that post with so many books I loved. You should definitely go check it out.  This week we’re bringing the negativity. Today I’m going to talk about the books that disappointed me. So many books left a sour taste in my mouth this year, that this is actually part 2. Halfway through the year I shared a list of 9 books that left me feeling disappointed. Today I bring you the final 6. I should say, for the record, that not all of these books were bad. Disappointing ≠ Bad. Yes. Some of the books on this list I ..read more

Give me the blood and the gore Make me so anxious that I have to tell everyone I care about how much I love them before I go to sleep just in case I die via a serial killer ghost or something. Make me so scared that I have to sleep with my night-light on. (Yes I have a night light. He’s a potato called Spud. I trust wholeheartedly in his ability to keep the monsters away). All year, ever since reading Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White and binge watching Scream, I’ve been on the hunt for some books that make me feel the same way those did. I’ve read a few, to various degrees of suc ..read more

September Wrap Up!

Guys. My reading in September was not looking great. I was halfway through the month and had only read three books, two of which I’d read started the month before. While reading 3 books a month is still pretty good, I was desperate to pick up the pace a little. In an attempt to motivate myself I cultivated a last minute TBR and I’m happy to report that I manage to cross off two of those books! (Not as great as my original “5 books in 10 days” plan but I’m still happy). Percy Jackson: Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan Can you believe I forgot this book was coming out in September. The Percy ..read more

ARC Review: There’s No Way I’d Die First by Lisa Springer

Hi and hello Recently I took part in the blog tour for There’s No Way I’d Die First by Lisa Springer, a debut young adult horror novel that has one of the prettiest covers of the year. Ever since finishing all of the Scream movies a couple of months ago, I’ve been clamouring to get my eyeballs on some YA slashers that get my blood pumping in the same way. All of that is to say that I had high hopes for this book and was so excited to receive and ARC but unfortunately … I didn’t like this book. At all. I’ve taken part in a fair few blog tours over the years but I’ve never had a situation wher ..read more

Guys. It’s been a long week of night shifts, my dogs waking me up too early and no day off. How am I going to make myself feel better you ask? By talking about the current LGBTQ+ books on my wish list of course. I’m 100% going to be fighting the urge to buy the e-book of these books in an attempt for a seretonin boost but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas My biggest regret from my trip to New York is not buying The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas. I had it in my hands, I even convinced my friend to buy it but I bloody didn’t. I figured I’d be ab ..read more
