Bill and Wendy, affectionately known as "Married to Keto," have grappled with weight issues since childhood. Bill, recognized for his chubby cheeks, and Wendy, perpetually aspiring to match her friends' thinness, found mutual support upon coming together in 1998, both pursuing healthier lifestyles. However, over time, they grew complacent and, in their own words, "comfortable..

A big fad right now in the keto world is what is called 90 second bread. It’s a combination of almond flour, baking powder and egg. You stick it in the microwave for 90 seconds and – voila! Keto bread. We decided to try it and say yay or nay. But did we enjoy it?
The Process of 90 Second Bread
As it was cooking in the microwave, all you could smell was egg. When it came out of the microwave-safe dish, it looked like an omelet. We sliced it in two and put some mayonnaise and roast beef on it to make a sandwich. The texture was actually more like bread t ..read more

Saturday or “Caturday” as we call it in our house is a good chance to decompress, spend some time with the kitties, do a little prep and get ready for the week ahead with a new keto recipe. We tend to do a meal we are familiar with that is quick and easy so we have more time to do the fun stuff. If you do the same the “Caturday Recipe” series is for you. No videos, no pop ups, no explanation of the mountain we hiked to pick the lettuce… just a plain ole’ fashioned Chocolate Covered Bacon recipe.

This blog series looks at some of the main ideas and the not-so-main ideas of keto as we work our way through the alphabet. The next one in our series is: P is for Protein. In our little province, we have hit the big time – we just had an IHOP (International House of Pancakes) open! Everyone is talking about it and visiting it. Yeah, we don’t get out much. Anyway, I decided it was time to do some research and find out what we can eat that is keto at IHOP.
Keto at IHOP Does Not Include Pancakes
From the name, you know a lot of the menu is going to include pancakes. Sorry, keto peeps, we cannot eat the pancakes. Even without the glazed fruit and other sugary toppings, pancakes will kick you out of ketosis before you can say “griddle ..read more

I figured I was just getting old. I heard myself say, “Didn’t we used to get more food for our money?” It was one step away from, “Back in my day…” But, it did seem that the amount of food in the packages lasted longer and tasted better. And then I read an article by CBC on the concept of shrinkflation and I realized that it wasn’t (just) that I was getting older. Companies are giving us less for our money, and it’s affecting keto products too.
The Research on Shrinkflation and Skimpflation
The article published by CBC defines skimpflation as companies switching u ..read more

Bill and I were married long ago – before I had ever heard of keto. But we were watching TV one evening and the bride was obsessed with fitting into her ideal wedding dress and it made me wonder; what if we’d been doing keto when we got married? Would we have been able to make it work? Cue dream sequence, fuzzy vision here. Let’s plan a keto wedding.
Starting Off a Keto Wedding
So, at our wedding, we had finger foods and not a full dinner. If we continued with this, it would be easy to do keto. We would just offer cheese plates, meat plates and a variety of nuts ..read more

Our new magazine is out and ready for purchase! It’s all about farm to table keto. What does that mean? It means that you buy your food directly from farmers. Now, some farms will bring you into their fold and let you be a part of the growing and harvesting experience (think U-Picks and community gardens). But most commonly, they sell their food directly to consumers at farmers markets.
Food Is An Experience

The Types of Carbs
Bill did a blog on the different kinds of carbs, and explains this idea really well. Carbohydrates fall into three categories: sugar, fiber, and starches. Sugar goes into the body and is very quickly converted into glucose and raises blood sugar at a ..read more
