My grandfather was a cabinet-maker, and I have memories of visiting San Diego Hardware in Downtown San Diego as a small child, when I was “helping” him with his projects. A long time passed, and then, just a few years ago when I was redoing my kitchen, designer Joy Elben sent me to the new store in Kearny Mesa to check out pulls for my cabinets. I knew right where to go when Heather, the owner, called for company headshots at the store. San Diego Hardware is the oldest family-owned business in San Diego, with unmatched hardware expertise and one-on-one customer service. In March of 2006, after ..read more

Evanna, Atalia, and Erleen have been friends since elementary school, and their senior session on Coronado was a celebration involving all three families! We captured three outfits per senior, grabbed some shots with moms and dads, got our toes wet on the shore while enjoying the sunset, and ended the session with some colorful shots by the surfboards. These sweet and beautiful girls are headed to SDSU and UC Santa Barbara, and their parents have reason to be very proud. Congrats to all ..read more

Ashlyn is graduating from high school this year, and her whole family jumped in for a combination senior portraits/family session. If you’ve ever wondered if it’s okay to do both types of sessions at once . . . YES! It is! I love capturing the interactions between family members, along with getting lots of shots (even different outfits!) of the featured senior. When we’re launching our 18-year-olds into life, the whole family deserves to be celebrated ..read more

I met Colton’s mom and dad last year when they were staying with their two younger children at the Del on vacation. Making portraits of those two was an adventure! It was a very bright, windy day, and the beach was experiencing what I call a “seaweed event,” where, try as they might, even the industrious beach cleaners at the Del couldn’t keep up with all the kelp! It was a lot, but the photos still turned out well (thank you, Photoshop), and I was thrilled to hear they were coming back to Coronado with their oldest child, Colton! Colton is a football player at his high school in Texas, and he ..read more

I’ve been having fun with headshots during the not-so-beachy season this year, and when MilkStork called me for photos during their offsite meetings at the Hotel Indigo. They wanted natural-looking shots that captured the personalities of the amazing people who work for their company, which provides breastmilk delivery for traveling professional moms who are nursing. I love this concept, and it was also fun chatting about our family business Sitterwise, which also serves professional mamas on the go ..read more

Servos | San Diego City Street Company Headshots

I can think of zero places where I’d rather take headshots than San Diego’s city streets! I love the colorful backgrounds, the glimmering lights, and the energy that exudes from these urban images. For companies enjoying offsite meetings in San Diego, using the streets around their hotel accommodations makes a lot of sense, and everybody looks awesome! Servos asked for a quick round of headshots and some group shots for their 30+ person staff. They were a fun bunch of people to work with, especially when I was standing on a ladder in the middle of the street ..read more

It was a beautifully sunny evening on an East County mountaintop when Marsha and Jeff’s extended family came together for portraits. We got all the groupings in those minutes before sunset, from grandchild individuals to sibling photos and a special image of “the original five”—just Marsha and Jeff and their three daughters. I loved seeing how all the kids love their cousins, their grandparents, and the play structures and pups that are part and parcel of a good day spent at Papi and Shasha’s house ..read more
