Rescue One Makes Way My daughter Karen has been a foster for Rescue One in Springfield for some time. So when a sad case came up where a perfectly healthy puppy was potentially going to have to be euthanized, Karen and I decided to join in being fosters for the cutest little Lab pup.   Zero, the Lab pup The dog mom was unfortunately not able to take care of her four month old puppy any longer due to housing issues, and the local pound north of Springfield as well as all rescues and shelters in the area were full. Rescue One was willing to take the pup, but did not have any fosters ..read more

What's new at Triple H Farm Rescue? It seems lately I only write about bad news, and it makes me sad. Unfortunately this month is no exception, on one hand we have shelters that are overflowing with dogs and cats available for adoption and on the other hand a rescue getting started that could help this situation but is not getting enough assistance to do so.  I did a follow up visit with Triple H Farm Rescue. You may recall that Wende started a 501c3 rescue with her own funds and property on a small scale, by providing flea preventive and low cost spay and neuter information as well a ..read more

Faithful Friends Animal Advocates reaches out with help This month’s visit took me back to where it all started at Faithful Friends Animal Advocates in Neosho, MO. Although I had always been an animal lover, growing up with a cat in Germany and then having multiple dogs and cats wherever we lived, until Faithful Friends, I didn’t know how hard animal shelters and rescues work, nor how much they depended on volunteers to help keep the animals fed, clean and happy. I’ve said it before and can’t say it often enough, you meet the nicest people in animal rescue, whether employed, volunteering, tr ..read more

East Newton Animal Coalition Assists Animals in Need Wow, the summer is almost over, and it just began! Hopefully, the extreme heat has gone away, and the dogs and cats have a more comfortable outside life again. Rudi, my German Shepherd, certainly thinks so. He spent most of the summer in the air conditioning, but is back to chasing squirrels outside, and the squirrel in turn sits on the power line chattering at him. It is an ongoing war between the two. I spent a little time with one of our pounds/rescues that could use a little help, the Granby Pound, which is managed by the same person ..read more
