Hi all,
I am currently searching for a replacement ramrod for a recently purchased Antonio Zoli Harpers Ferry 1803 Flintlock produced by Navy Arms and wondered if you folks might know a good source. I’ve looked everywhere for some kind of literature as to parts and/or specs and have had no success. So I have no idea what the original rod looked like or what material is was of.
It doesn’t have to be a direct factory replacement or even the “correct” piece. Just something similar to what was...

I admit I sometimes go a little overboard on wild tangents, but hear me out. Has anyone ever considered re-stocking one of the modern plastic-stocked inlines, like an Optima or Wolf etc, in fancy wood, maybe with a curved brass butt plate and full forend out to the muzzle with a forend cap ..read more

New one is 3/4" wide at the hammer, tapers to 1/2".
Old one below.
Old one was 1/2" wide made from original spring, it cracked at the narrow.
The new one is annealed 1075 spring steel.
Heated and quenched in 140 degree vegetable oil. [After heat treat, the spring was to hard to file, perfect!]
Then into the toaster oven for two hours at 400, the for good measure an other hour at 450. Wrapped in tin foil after polishing.
Also have the spring plunger added...

It's another fine mess you've gotten us into Ollie ...
What started out as examining the barrel, cleaning, and going to the range with my Armsport 50 cal has evolved into a complete dismantle and restoration.
40 years ago I browned the barrel ... I used a traditional saltwater method and it turned out ok and I just thought it could be better ... the barrel is now back to bare metal.
Inspecting the stock I noticed this crack so I took it completely apart to inspect. Superglue might fix it ...

Not exactly a muzzleloader question so much as general gunsmithing. A while back I purchased and Enfield No.1 MK111 that was accurized by Fultons of Bisley. It's in amazing original condition apart from the Parker Hale sight. The previous owner damaged the mounting screws while attempting to remove the sight, I was able to purchase new screws and now I am trying to figure the best way to successfully remove the original ones.
I'm thinking of supporting the rifle and action and...

Well I have a TC Renegade I received in a trade. Bore is decent, but exterior has some rust and light pitting. Previous owner tried to neutralize and remove but the rust is still there. Best way to remove the rust? Draw file and block sand afterwards?
Thanks ..read more
