For some inexplicable reason, at least 4 of the 5 Boston local news stations play musical chimes whenever the "7-day" weather graphic appears.
WBZ, Boston (plays a "DUN! Da-dun-DA-dun" sound. Didn't do this annoying thing until 2022, when they started branding their weather forecasts as "Next" weather):

WCVB, Boston (plays a "dah-duh-DA-duh" sound):

WBTS, Boston (not as intrusive, but plays a 3-note, "dun-DUN-dun" sound):

This one's gonna be interesting, since it's a rare pacific storm to hit the continental United States.
TWC is focusing their attention on it at this moment, but the local stations aren't quite in "Hurricane Mode" like an Atlantic or Gulf station would be....yet ..read more

Soapbox rant- but as much of the country has been dealing with record cold, and other localized issues, one thing that I've noticed is the new trend of TV stations "issuing" (insert weather branding here) "Alert Days".
Some people are in serious danger- and the National Weather Service is doing (I think) a good job trying to keep the national Christmas Tree of watches/warnings/advisories clear and concise. Tv stations are diluting that for a cheap attempt at ratings points by starting a newscast with "We have issued a weather alert day for tomorrow". How long until viewers start tuning ..read more

With the return of J-P Dice to WBRC, they will now have SEVEN meteorologists on staff.
Likely the most out of any station in the southeast region.

IMHO, they should have stayed at 6, it would matched their channel number.
And lest we forget down at 33/40, where one reigns supreme over all ..read more

Scrolling through the guide on PlutoTV, I noticed the logo for WeatherNation actually read "WeatherNation Los Angeles" (my location), and upon selecting the channel I saw that it featured a localized L-bar with static, local time that cycled through cities in the region with current conditions and a 5-day forecast, along with a "local weather on the 7's" in the video feed (which isn't *quite* on the 7's given the stream lag). I compared it with the WeatherNation app on my Roku, and their app (while offering a local forecast on their landing screen) still only offered the national WN feed.
