Three weeks have passed since I returned to Lençóis to do a work exchange and undertake my first videography project with one of my all-time favorite hostels: Chapada Backpackers Hostel. It has been a dream come true to pursue something I love and make a living from it. It feels good to transition one of my passions from being a hobbyist to a professional. It has been quite an interesting experience, working hard and long hours while thoroughly enjoying every moment of it. It has been epic getting to spend more time exploring Chapada Diamantina and visiting new places I have not been to ..read more

Follow Follow Follow Follow It is wild to think that I have been on the road traveling for a whole year now.  The time feels like it has gone by so fast, and it seems unbelievable how quickly a year has passed since starting this journey.  I am utterly grateful for the last year and for everyone who has helped support me in any way.  I am thankful for all my opportunities and excited for whatever lies ahead. I have been here in Chapada Diamantina for almost two months, and exploring around has been amazing.  Last week, I went to Águas Claras, which was magical and ..read more

Down the Amazon River, our voyage started from Manaus to a magical small village in the jungle called Alto do Chão.  Spending two days by boat traveling down the Amazon River by boat with a friend I met back in Mexico was an incredible experience with some unforgettable memories, from sleeping in a hammock on a boat to seeing playful dolphins swimming around the boat to daring kids on small little boats racing up next to the moving boat to tie-up in order to sell right over the side of the boat freshly made Açai and palm hearts straight from the jungle. The time flew by during the t ..read more

I have dreamed about coming to Manaus and exploring the Amazon jungle for many years!  The city has a romantic rustic charm with the old buildings designed with Portuguese architecture while you still feel like you are in the jungle as parrots, parakeets, and macaws fly over all day.  For over ten years, I have dreamt about his expedition to experience the real Amazon jungle, to spend time with an authentic indigenous tribe, and just maybe be able to drink ayahuasca with them or a shaman.  One of my biggest apprehensions about coming here was finding or experiencing one of ..read more

For the last month, I have been living in and exploring one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to, called Chapada Diamantina National Park.  Wow, what a magical place it is!  From the enormously dramatic mountains to the valleys full of colored plants and flora to the endless number of mesmerizing waterfalls, to the hundreds of different hiking trails, all of nature was so epic and awe-inspiring!  It was incredible doing all the solo hiking and really being able to connect with nature there.  Even the people I met there were so kind and friendly that I was really ..read more

I planned to stay one week here in Itacaré, which has turned into more than a month.  This little coastal beach town in Bahia is one of my favorite places in Brazil.  I can’t even count the number of times I have said “wow” this past month.  This place is truly something unique and magical.  Of the countries and places I have been to, Itacaré is definitely one of my favorite places.  The people, the music, the food, the energy, and the nature here are incredible.  I have met some amazing people and feel at home here, which is one of the reasons why it is so ha ..read more

I’ve been in Brazil for two months now, and all I can say is WOW!  But seriously, this country is really something!  It is definitely my favorite and the most amazing country I have ever visited.  The nature is stunning, and the people are so friendly.  I’m not going to lie the language is extremely difficult and makes things pretty challenging at times, but the kindness of the people here makes up for it.  So, I am learning Portuguese, but it’s going quite slowly. So far, it feels like I have explored and seen a lot of Brazil, but in reality, especially when ..read more

I have been in Brazil for one whole week now, but it feels much longer.  I am shocked at how difficult Portuguese is, but I am slowly falling in love with the language and the culture.  It is beautiful how friendly and warmhearted Brazilians are.  I know it is very early to say this, but Brazil is one of the first countries where I feel so welcomed and at home.  Brazilians are passionate, proud, and confident people who speak and express themselves with energy and positivity.  I am thankful to have connected with a very close friend I met and knew back home in Cayman ..read more

As I sit here on my flight to São Paulo, Brazil, and think about the last three months I spent in México, I think of how lucky and grateful I am.  It has been a fantastic journey and chapter exploring and experiencing México.  It feels like I have been in México for more than I have and I am so lucky that I got to see so much of the country and culture.  Although there are many places I still want to see and things to do, they will have to wait until next time.  But, overall, my time in México was totally crazy and full of magic.  Some of my favorite and best things ..read more
