Hi everyone,
I just started my career, and I am planning to allocate some money to the stock market.
I am doing some research, and I understand that I will need to hold stocks for at least a year to be considered qualified. My question after a year if I do some realignment after a year, Do I have to pay taxes since it will be considered as selling some stocks and buying some others ..read more

I just did my tentative attending budget plan and I realized that I will only be able save/invest 80-85k/yr (on a 330k/yr salary)? Is that even good considering I plan to be FI in 10-12 yrs.
I might have to pick up some extra shifts because the goal was to save/invest 100k+/yr.
How much you guys/gals save/invest every year ..read more

Second year attending, so theoretically should be about 6-7 years in, but that's obviously not the case...
Was just reading this article -

Saw this in another community on reddit here and thought it was super helpful.
Someone pulled together the latest market comps from various specialties in the same doc and has crowdsourced anonymous salaries across various specialties as well. The MGMA data is spotty - so if someone has the latest for their specialty, add it below and we could probably ask them to get it added to the sheet. The community data looks pretty solid for many specialties and it has all the individual level...

I'll be starting up a VA gig in a couple of months as my first attending job. I have >$400k in loans and am going for PSLF, and I'm about 5 years out from qualifying. This works out well because VA offers $40k/year in loan reimbursement for payments made over the course of 5 years, so I could essentially qualify for PSLF without making payments (I'd still make payments of course, but with the reimbursement it would be net zero).
My plan is to make income based minimum payments on a monthly...

I have 440K in public loans.
70K in private loans.
My wife has 20K in private loans.
My attending salary will be $300K before taxes. My wife makes $50K and we want her to stay home when we start having kids until they start school. And we eventually want to buy a house in the next few years.
Our game plan is to pay off all our private loans year 1 of being an attending, living only a slightly better lifestyle than when I was a resident. Just a slightly more expensive apartment, same car as...

I have no students loans. I am single independent and I have about 250k in stocks. My pre-tax income will be around 50k for my program. My yearly rent is $1,000 (all inclusive). I couldn’t find anything that will tell me what the premium will be on my health insurance plan. I am a relatively healthy individual with no current medical conditions (I hope) except wearing glasses. I would like to try invisalign for my teeth (lol). I have a few questions and have 1 day worth of financial literacy...

Doing taxes now, and looks like I'm gonna have to pay a handsome chunk again. I thought I did enough to lower it this year, but apparently not.
Here's some of what I'm doing:
Maxing out 401K
Maxing out HSA
Other info: I have a house/mortgage, not married, no kids. I do have dividend stocks
Am I doing enough, what else can I do? What are your Tax sheltering strategies ..read more
