What is a holistic menopause? Why should you be taking this approach?

When I first said that I was going to help women understand and resolve their menopause issues I asked a large group of women whether I should use the word Holistic or not? The answer was a resounding NO: that no one really knew what it meant; that was 8 years ago. Nowadays I’m so pleased to see that it’s appearing more and more in everyday talk about life and health and especially about your menopause transition. This week I received a call about my menopause services and at first, I was unclear whether the lady was asking for HRT help but she clarified it immediately with: Do you t ..read more

It’s taken me a while to put this blog together because it is a huge topic and I wanted to do it justice. You’ll see at the end some of the references and if you’d like all the science (and biology) by all means dig in there is some meaty reading to be had. I’ve taken an overview today to give you insight into just how important vitamin D3 (it’s correct name) or Vitamin D as I’ll call it today in your menopause transition. Today’s blog is inspired by my own changing body! I’ve been symptom free now for 4 or more years since hitting the perimenopause hard when I was in my mid-40s. Uppin ..read more

Help me reduce my menopause irritability naturally!

This month this blog can't come soon enough, I'm seeing irritability levels around me rise in the last week or so and it's still a couple of weeks before the real Spring energy kicks in! In Chinese medicine the energies correspond to the seasons and though we're still in winter the energy of Spring starts to rise now. Snow drops are out and Daffodils are sprouting so we know it's coming. Spring energy is a thrusting energy so it's coming whether we or the winter weather want to acknowledge it. The earth is cyclical and with that comes this energy and the urge to get moving. This energy manife ..read more

Menopause Blog: Got the 3pm Slump? Resolve it naturally!

There is nothing worse than feeling like you just want to put your head on your desk and crash around 3pm every single day at work. I was like this for a lot of my desk-based career, it was never so bad if I was on the move, but then you tend to crash the moment you come to rest at home. Most of my clients tell me they don't dare stop during the day as when they do they'll fall asleep; yep this was me in the past too. Has your 3pm slumping come on since you've noticed your hormonal transition or is it something that's always been there? You may not get it on the weekends or you may be pushing ..read more

Menopause in the Workplace: Ways to Support You

I wasn't in a corporate work place when I hit the worst of my perimenopause symptoms but I do wonder if it is the reason I left. I felt exhausted. I couldn't keep up the relenting long hours and stress as I had done throughout my 30s; I was 44 when I left. I felt relief and thought things would get better, then life stress intervened and symptoms really started to show. Luckily I had a sympathetic boss who didn't have a clue about the menopause but was openminded, willing to explore options and support me and wasn't too hard on me. I was my own boss, but I really appreciate that if you work f ..read more

Perimenopause Blog: Natural remedies to combat Menopause Anxiety

Anxiety is an issue I’ve had on and off throughout my life and so when it returned in perimenopause I was destressed and quite frankly annoyed as I’d done the work to reduce these episodes in my 30s whilst studying Chinese medicine. Then anxiety came back overnight and was there every single day.  I couldn’t understand how my body was manifesting the symptoms of anxiety when my head seemed to be in a relatively calm place. Looking back though I was starting up my own business so that would have triggered more stress in my body and anxiety is symptom of stress. I had to research an ..read more

This is such a crazy time of year for women to pack in everything they feel they should do ontop of everything you actually have to do. Then, if you have children in school your timetable is even more jampacked! When you get to the big day on December 25th you're most likely running on fumes then you either have to pack the whole family up and ship out to family for Christmas or you'll be up at the crack of dawn because you're the Christmas caterer; any of this ringing bells? The best Christmas all my clients have told me was when covid meant we had to isolate and many could just hunker down ..read more

I've been doing weekly instagram lives talking about my thoughts on how you can have a great menopause as well as giving regular advice; so I was pleased to see that the week I did What is a natural menopause got sigificantly more views! I've noticed in the last couple of months a lot of fear in women ..read more

I've recently received a fantastic thank you from a lady who came along to my free webinar, Bitesize Menopause - How to resolve your symptoms now for a natural healthy menopause and then bought my book Understanding Your Menopause and followed the steps to improving the symptoms she was experiencing. Her results have been remarkable from removing all traces of PMS so that her period caught her by surprise to having a marked positive change in a medical condition that she has. It was a surprise to her nurse and it was great for me to hear but for a long time now I've been telling women: In Per ..read more
