All seven stages of depravity, all the time. — Copenhagen, Denmark-based death metal quartet Undergang have been around since 2008 and though their output’d been fairly prolific and notable enough for its classicist barbarism from the get-go they’d hit the stride we witness today beyond 2018 as their line-up appeared to re-solidify beyond the success of their fourth full-length. There has yet to be any real checks and balances applied to their tyrannical spasms since then as we watch ’em morph from plodding and punkish ‘old school’ death metal mutant babes toward a leading amalgam of death-gri ..read more

Fire up your hygrometers, bone up on tissue specific rates of polymerization by osmotic fluid transfer, and prepare to will the flesh into everlasting stasis by way of six instructive tales… of slow-brined fixative autolytic prevention in symposium, a ghoulish host of gut-grabbing “tidbit preservationist” fantasies made real by Copenhagen, Denmark-based deathgrind quartet Sequestrum on this gruntin’ n’ splatterin’ flap-slosher of a debut mLP. Not-so cryptic horrors and wetter than thou spuming await their ingress upon an unwitting public as we find ‘Pickled Preservation‘ striking every availab ..read more

Over the last several years Ukraine borne and Tokyo, Japan-based musician K. Stefanskyi, under the Pharmacist name, has approached this sound from a scholarly, surgically precise level of attentiveness with an innate understanding of not only what made that particular Carcass album so special back ..read more

To be a band of a certain era and doubly associated with the (then) meek and socially inept underground extreme metal fringe that was Portland, Oregon in the late 1990’s places a band like Lord Gore in the mind of many as a relic. If you weren’t there at the time buying up Razorback Records and picking through Barbarian Wrath and Moribund mailers for the most over-the-top brutality and anti-politically correct gore, hate and blasphemy know that you missed out on some of the finer curation amongst the flood of “Hey, we’ve got ProTools, fuck a producer!” bedroom extreme metal of the time. Nasty Surgeons – Infectious Stench (2018) REVIEW

Hard at work within the underground extreme metal scenes of Northern Spain for the last couple of decades the folks that congeal to form Nasty Surgeons lead with the simple goal of making extreme gore themed grind/death metal in the vein of Avulsed, Exhumed, and Carcass. Instead of closely resembling their masters the project’s second full-length ‘Infectious Stench’ drives a railroad spike of General Surgery and Impaled style gore, growls and riffs into the heart of their makers. It is a simple goal and an average undertaking that successfully retreads the complex, semi-melodic landscape creat ..read more
