Gore Machine is preparing to drop the debut album, Macerated & Liquified, out February 23 via Horror Pain Gore Death, and you can preview it here with us. The goregrind solo project is headed up by Druesome (guitars extinction protocol), who performs all instruments, vocals and sampling. This record is a concept album that focuses on some of the most bizarre ways people have met their demise throughout history. It’s remarkably well-known and memorable for such a low-fi, DIY project.d Macerated & Liquified by GORE MACHINE Druesome says about the record: “Gore Machine is pumped to u ..read more

Full Album Stream: Sulfuric Cautery – ‘Suffocating Feats of Dehumanization’

Just when you thought you were out, they GRIND you back in. Any fan of grindcore worth their snuff should be familiar with the powerhouse that is Sulfuric Cautery. The duo, originally midwest based but now calling the city of Angels their home, has been violating ear drums with their particularly potent stew of hyperblasting goregrind since 2015. Drummer Isaac is well regarded as one of the fastest drummers on the planet and his trademark cartoonishly pingy snare drum is ever present on the band’s brand new full length, Suffocating Feats of Dehumanization. Building upon 2019’s debut full-lengt ..read more

Track Premiere: Cartilage – “I Skin You”

From top to bottom, this is kind of a WYSIWYG deal. Let’s examine the facts to clarify. Band name: Cartilage. Band origin: San Francisco. Promo pic: band members bathed in “blood” wielding stabbing weapons and making agonized, menacing faces. Song title: “I Skin You.” (Sidenote, is there an emoji for the verb “to skin” that could potentially be substituted in here?) Album title: The Deader the Better. Album cover: Uh, yucky bodily fluids and weird medical stuff being performed on zombies, by zombies? [insert “I dunno” emoji here.] Conclusion: death-obsessed goregrind, that likely involves Matt ..read more

Fight Fire with Fire: ‘Scum’ vs. ‘Horrified’

Fight Fire with Fire is an ongoing series on our site where we pit two classic genre albums against each other to definitively figure out which one is better. “But they’re both great!” you’ll say. Yes, these albums are the best of the best. But one is always better. Plus, we love these sorts of exercises, and also love watching you battle each other to the death in the comments, so how could this possibly end poorly? Well, we had to come to this one eventually here in this column, didn’t we? We’ve had a more modern grindcore showdown with Nasum taking on Discordance Axis, but we still haven’t ..read more

Blast Worship: Ptomatopsiaa

Where they from? According to their YouTube description (which is the only page on the internet with any information regarding this band) this group has members from both California and Connecticut. Oddly enough I have lived in both places and would not recommend either. Connecticut has too many trees and not enough people and California just like every song the Red Hot Chili Peppers wrote about it: annoying. Why the hype? Because Ptomatopsiaa just slaps. I mean, we have talked here plenty about the new wave of hyper goreblast led most prominently by groups like Sulfuric Cautery, Human Effluen ..read more

Where they from? Fortaleza, Brazil. I was a big fan of the Adult Swim live-action show Children’s Hospital, and one of the re-occurring jokes was that the characters made references that the hospital they worked at was in Brazil despite the fact that they literally made no attempt to conceal the fact that the show was filmed in Los Angeles. For an episode in Season 3 they actually flew down two of the actors so they could film a 30-second scene in Brazil just to sort of put an actual bowtie on the gag with no explanation whatsoever. What a great show. Why the hype? OK, we have Last Days of Hum ..read more

Where they from? Texas, their Bandcamp profile just says ‘Texas.’ Back in 2008, a friend and I drove from Baltimore to Long Beach, CA and MapQuest took us through the very northern part of the panhandle of Texas. I just remember it being the middle of the night and I was hopped up on copious amounts of Adderall and it felt incredibly creepy. It was as if Leatherface himself was going to hop out from behind one of the highway signs for Cracker Barrel and through his chainsaw through my windshield. That’s what I think of when I think of Texas. Why the hype? We are definitely in a strange period ..read more

Track Premiere: Houkago Grind Time – “Hey Toshino Kyouko”
Decibel Magazine » goregrind
by Bradley Zorgdrager

Houkago Grind Time eschews goregrind’s lyrical gore, slaughtering only in sound. The one-man band from Ripped to Shreds‘ Andrew Lee may SOUND like Carcass, Regurgitate and Mortician, but the only thing he’s dissecting is anime. We’re not talking the violent type, either. The titular character of “Hey Toshino Kyouko” comes from Yuri Yuri, while Lee claims K-On as another inspiration. Both series focus on friendship over fury, which actually kind of translates to the album as a whole. Bakyunsified (Moe to the Gore) features guest solos from Leon del Muerte (Impaled, Murder Construct, ex-Nails, e ..read more
