Unfortunately, Iowa has no fishing appeal for me here.

The waters look dirty. They might be polluted with farm water runoff and pesticides. I would not swim in any Iowa lake, reservoir or river. I would only like to fish, boat, dive and swim in waters that look clean to me. This might be offshore in ocean waters, reservoirs up in the hills where no farm waste can run off into them and mountain rivers, lakes and streams. I have had nice fishing, boating and swimming opportunities living in California and Idaho, but economic situations have... Unfortunately, Iowa has no fishing appeal for me here ..read more

Here's why! Liquid Mountains: I Captured Lake Erie On The Day It Came Alive And Showed Its True Power | Bored Panda I love the fishing on Erie, and have been fishing it my whole life. But I've seen far too many people in dire straights when that lakes turns. It can go from smooth as glass to 10ft waves in a matter of minutes. The above link is to photos a Canadian Photographer took of Lake Erie last month... Why is it named Erie ..read more

Many might not agree with me on this, but the mandated WA State Boater Safety Course is merely another ruse to gain taxpayer revenue. It costs a total of $44.95 to take the course, pass it, and receive the certification card. I can't imagine the revenue this will produce, and where will it end...A $50 course and certification card for snow skiing safety? Water skiing safety? Jogging safety? What happened to individual responsibility, freedom, and allowing parents to teach their children... Want To Boat and Fish In WA? Our Nanny State Strikes Again ..read more

WORLD-RECORD BASS: THE HEAVIEST LARGEMOUTH EVER LANDED

MATT POE DECEMBER 9, 2021 All the bass I've caught combined probably wouldn't even add up to the world record bass caught by Manabu Kurita in Lake Biwa, Japan. Technically, Kurita's bass was one ounce larger than the previous world record largemouth bass, which was caught by George Perry in Montgomery Lake in Georgia back in 1932. However, since Kurita's bass wasn't two ounces heavier, it's... WORLD-RECORD BASS: THE HEAVIEST LARGEMOUTH EVER LANDED ..read more

My wife and I, plus our four children, their spouses and children/our grandchildren (20 of us), are heading to far Northern Wisconsin in early June for some cabin and lake time. We’ve all stayed there before and enjoy the location. About a 6-hr drive from where we live in Iowa. We’ve got several cabins rented along with a pontoon boat and a fishing boat. Should be a good memory maker for all. I’m a catch and release guy usually (like I am with guns ) but I may be talked into some pan... Good fishing ahead… t-minus 60 days ..read more

Well another silver salmon season is upon us, it was delayed two weeks by the illustrious WDFW. They couldn’t manage a wet paper bag much less our resources. Having said that, I’m out on the Chehalis river for the first time since the October 1 opening. I haven’t seen any net fly or anyone having a fish on this morning which tells you something. I generally fish the tides in this area my favorite area and have done pretty well over the years but if this season is like last season I may just... Coho season in the PNW ..read more

I was on a run from Washington, to Billings MT. About 40 miles west of Missoula, I get a phone call. It's dispatch. My delivery on Saturday (tomorrow) is put off till Monday. This means I get paid detention for the next two days. All I can think is fly fishing float trip. Hadn't fly fished in 18 years. So..... I ended up getting paid to go fishing. On the Bitterroot, Missoula. Complained in an email to dispatch how I suffered detention. "But don't worry! I'm a company man! I'll make the... Got paid to fish ..read more

Just watched a video of an angler trotting bread on a small river. He caught a nice roach around 8oz and remarked on its condition, “Nice clean fish, probably never been caught before?” I hear this quite often and have said it myself on occasions but can one really tell ..read more
