I would suggest if you're going to get a boat of any kind for survival the Kayak is my preferred choice. Nothing fancy just a mid lvl kayak that has got good balance and tracks well is enough and whatever I can get a good deal on. what makes it a good choice is that it only takes one person to take it to any water source. Even if your 2 miles away you can get a kayak cart and attach it to a bicycle and quietly go to your fishing hole. using yourself as the means of transportation energy No...

I have a royalex pennobscot 16 old town canoe that I use for whitewater. I put some kevlar felt on the ends years ago but it needs more work. These felt pads seem cheaper because a whole kit costs around $90. I didn't really do a great job putting the kevlar on there but it stayed on and helped protect the canoe. Somehow I have some other spots to cover up still .

I’ve been long afflicted with the boating bug (have 3 boats already), and recently found an old AMF Minifish for sale cheap. I had to have it because i learned to sail in a Sunfish as a kid.
It’s only 11’6” long so no registration is required. Has a good sail, rudder, and daggerboard. I had a trailer already so picking it up was easy.
Plan is to get it wet by the end of May. Hope I remember how to tack and come about ..read more

So, I got this 2011 Bentley 240 Fish pontoon on Thanksgiving 2022. I've been working on it and fixing things, cleaning it, etc. I could never get the aluminum pontoons cleaned like I wanted. I tried every YT and home remedy I could find, to no avail.
I found something that actually works. It's available in different brands online. The common denominator is sulfuric acid. It's very powerful and should only be used with all the appropriate PPE, gloves, glasses, respirator, etc.
I bought 2...

I removed the plastic bezels from the pontoon, as I'm replacing the navigation lights and adding new headlights.
I sanded them lightly and put a coat of Rustoleum paint on them. I let it dry for 2 days in the house. I sanded them again and when I put the second coat on, this happened...

I have trapped a good amount of live killies, I am keeping them in a holding cage. I dropped a slice of bread in the cage, to let them have something to nibble on. Any idea what to put into keep them fed? I want to keep it going to fall, so I have live bait all year ..read more

Another large White Shark was landed off a gulf beach this week.
The men were fishing at Navarre Beach, and using the head from an 80lb. yellowfin tuna for bait.
Over the last few years, several large White Sharks, and other species in the 12-14ft. range have been landed from gulf shore beaches.

Just before Christmas, stumbled on a kayak on Craigslist.
A Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100.
Needed some TLC, stored outside, had a mouse nest in it. Gave it a powerful scrubbing, inside and out.
I replaced the thigh pads, handles, and re-installed the foam bulkhead that had been globbed with 100% silicone, but still leaked.
installed new bungee deck lines. it looks new, now.
Yes it was some work, but it came with an almost new PFD and a paddle.
I cross-referenced the hull ID to a...
