I’ve been long afflicted with the boating bug (have 3 boats already), and recently found an old AMF Minifish for sale cheap. I had to have it because i learned to sail in a Sunfish as a kid. It’s only 11’6” long so no registration is required. Has a good sail, rudder, and daggerboard. I had a trailer already so picking it up was easy. Plan is to get it wet by the end of May. Hope I remember how to tack and come about ..read more

So, I got this 2011 Bentley 240 Fish pontoon on Thanksgiving 2022. I've been working on it and fixing things, cleaning it, etc. I could never get the aluminum pontoons cleaned like I wanted. I tried every YT and home remedy I could find, to no avail. I found something that actually works. It's available in different brands online. The common denominator is sulfuric acid. It's very powerful and should only be used with all the appropriate PPE, gloves, glasses, respirator, etc. I bought 2... Acid washing a pontoon ..read more

I removed the plastic bezels from the pontoon, as I'm replacing the navigation lights and adding new headlights. I sanded them lightly and put a coat of Rustoleum paint on them. I let it dry for 2 days in the house. I sanded them again and when I put the second coat on, this happened... Just before Christmas, stumbled on a kayak on Craigslist. A Wilderness Systems Pamlico 100. Needed some TLC, stored outside, had a mouse nest in it. Gave it a powerful scrubbing, inside and out. I replaced the thigh pads, handles, and re-installed the foam bulkhead that had been globbed with 100% silicone, but still leaked. installed new bungee deck lines. it looks new, now. Yes it was some work, but it came with an almost new PFD and a paddle. I cross-referenced the hull ID to a... Scored a kayak on Craigslist ..read more

It is mid winter, and I am sick of snow, so I have been looking at new canoes, specifically square stern canoes that are light enough to carry on top the Camper shell I just mounted on my pickup. I saw several made by this Canadian company called Esquif. Don't know much about the company, but the make lots of different Freighter style canoes, with or without the square stern. Heron - Esquif The Heron is a multi-purpose canoe perfectly adapted to fishing and hunting activities. Light, stable and quiet, it offers great load capacity. Its design allows it to be used with or without a motor ..read more

I've been a kayak fisherman for about the last 12 years. My first true "fishing kayak" was an old Wilderness Ride paddle yak! I've purchased several used kayaks over those years, fishing with pedal drives more often than not. I've had my 2016 Native Slayer Propel 13 for 7 years now - the only one I purchased new. I'm 70 now and wanted to increase my fishing range, get there faster, and give myself a physical break. I added the Newport Vessels 3hp electric kayak outboard (remotely...
