War in. First time when I heard the name Kanonenfieber was in the end of 2021, when Dmytro Kumar, 1914 vocalist mentioned this name in the interview. I checked one or two songs, noted the good mix of black metal, death and catchy melodies but that’s all. However, everything changed drastically when I saw Kanonenfieber on stage at Hellfest. I got there with zero expectations but after an hour I became a huge fan, who digs deep into the lyrics and can’t get enough of the band’s music. And I believe I wasn’t the only one who was impressed so much: the music and theatrical show with uniforms, bala ..read more

Hi! What do you think sets “A Journey told through Fire” apart from your previous releases in terms of its atmosphere and intensity?
Hello! While all our albums have had the melodic element, I think we’ve gradually evolved our melodies into being darker and more atmospheric. There is also a lot more aggression and intensity as you say, on “A Journey” than the previous albums.
The album contains your longest track to date. Could you tell us more about the creative process behind this epic piece and what inspired its length?
«A Godless Domain» is sort of the introduction to ..read more

Polish melodic black metal band Hegeroth from Silesia has returned with brand new record Sacra Doctrina which was released independently earlier this year. They continue to explore the boundaries of melodic black with enthusiastic spirit and attentive imagination. And it seems like Hegeroth are quite satisfied within the realm of this limited musical direction.
Two years have passed, and Hegeroth once again presented another full-length album, making it number four in their 12-year career. Still, with strong beliefs, imperfect sound and primitive steadiness, these Poles have managed to create ..read more

“Man is God or Man is a Beast” is the first single from the Setoml‘s upcoming album, the title of which the musicians have not yet announced. The song dives into the thoughts about whom a person imagines thereself as – God or the beast. What do you think? With this work, musicians want to draw everyone’s attention to everything around us. To ask questions. Who you really are? To give yourself a chance to think about how you can make this world a better place. To awaken love to nature and all living creatures. The human mind can create ingenious things, both for the benefit and for the harm of ..read more

This spring the Maltese melo/sympho black band Martyrium has returned with their fifth full-length album “Lamia Satanica” through Art Gates records. They are not very productive, usually presenting every five years new creation with a diligent attention. And no surprises or dramatic stylistic combinations, this kind of black metal has its roots in the 1990s, and their fondness for it is extremely great.
Martyrium is one of the most popular metal bands from Malta, and their reputation on a worldly extreme metal scene is approaching towards an iconic position, defining the second wave of symphon ..read more

Way too good to be black metal, not quite heavy enough to death metal, it’s the melodic and melancholy Arquetipo from Chile’s Montuln.
Chilean metal hasn’t seen much evolution over the past 40 years as even the most well-known acts (still sadly seen as ‘underground’ acts on the global metal scene) still borrow heavily from 80s death, black, and thrash metal; Montuln, however, have at least made the effort to drag the scene into the next two decades with their first release proper.
The instruments are very ‘present’ and rely on strong musicianship rather than a wash of after effects, which imme ..read more

Country of Portugal is well known for having metal bands that does not follow the norm in traditional metal, having in mind their most famous band Moonspell everything is pretty much clear.
Very similar thing can be said about WinterMoonShade.
Fans of bands like Blut Aus Nord will have a field day listening to this album.
The intro Into Quiet Places from their self-titled album which was released on Black Sparks Records clearly presents the whole chilly atmosphere of the upcoming blizzard of riffs and haunting vocals.
Despite being a 2020 release it gives a strong mid-nineties vibe with its co ..read more

After 8 long years the melodic black metal elite from Sweden strikes again. In the 80s and 90s far away from the drama of the Norwegian scene Naglfar began to create their own, much more melodic style alongside others like Dissection, Sacramentum or Necrophobic. “Cerecloth” is their seventh album and with its very good but also raw production it tears your soul apart straight from the beginning. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean raw in the sense of some trvekvlt black metal demo recording. The production on “Cerecloth” is very professional but still has this cold, grim and aggressive flair. 43 ..read more

Six years until the new record of the Bavarian black metal beast Dark Fortress enters our dimension. “Venereal Dawn” from 2014 was a very experimental album. So, what can we expect from their current work?
A brilliant black metal record, thatєs for sure. Once again, the creativity knows no limits. “Spectres from the Old World” is much more brutal and aggressive than the previous one, but without loosing itself in infinite blasts and tremolo guitars riding the same riff repeatedly. The song writing process must have been blessed with a fountain of ideas. Overall, the songs are very riff based w ..read more
