Scuttlebutt is the news podcast of Coast Report, the student news outlet of Orange Coast College, in Costa Mesa, California.
OCC's mascot is a pirate and the original name of the campus newspaper was "The Barnacle" in 1948. “Scuttlebutt” was a runner-up in a contest to name the student newspaper. We felt it was appropriate to name part of our future after a part of our past.
