Titled Noix Et Boules, it is the latest single to be taken from the South Florida metallic hardcore band’s upcoming debut album Life’s Cold Grasp, which is scheduled to be released in March this year via DAZE. It follows previously released tracks Spores Of Industry and Corrode. Speaking about the track, vocalist Alex Rothberger comments, “I wrote this song about religion. There’s so many wars and battles created by belief systems. It’s very strange to me. A belief is an opinion and it’s unforgivable that so many people have been killed ..read more

Mondays are always tough. It’s the start of a long work week as you long for the weekend. However, if you’re looking to cure those Monday blues then the O2 Academy in Liverpool was the right place to do it. Sheffield metalheads; MALEVOLENCE put on quite the show to blow away those cobwebs. Even before any bands took to the stage, the room was already full to the brim and that’s even before the first support act. It’s these kinds of venues where you know things are going to go off once the show gets started.  Rough Justice live @ O2 Academy, Liverpool. Photo Credit: Ellie D Photo Kicking o ..read more

ALBUM REVIEW: there is a place for me on earth – Defocus
Distorted Sound » Metalcore
by Amber Denwood

DEFOCUS are a band who love to test their limits. This is abundantly clear in the German metalcore unit’s new release, there is a place for me on earth. They’ve never been a band to shy away from heavy, rolling soundscapes (see their huge track Disease if you need further proof of this) and this latest album serves to take this one step further. The opening track Let The Bond Be My Grave plays it a little closer to what we already know about the band; it’s metalcore through and through, though this is far from saying that the track lacks power. Older fans will enjoy getting reacquainted with t ..read more

ALBUM REVIEW: Exit Emotions – Blind Channel

“Rohkea rokan syö” (“fortune favours the brave”); never has a saying applied to a band more than BLIND CHANNEL. Since their breakthrough competing in 2021’s Eurovision Song Contest with their infectious nu-metal, LINKIN PARK-esque banger Dark Side and following it up in 2022 with their triumphant fourth album Lifestyles Of The Sick & Dangerous, the band have worked hard to keep the momentum going with their scintillating fifth album Exit Emotions. BLIND CHANNEL’s rise has captivated the metal world, as most of the metal exports from Finland are either satanic black metal, epic symphonic me ..read more

Speaking about the new song, the band says, “Good Morning for TEN56. is a statement, our way of letting the world know that no, we are not done with experimentation, we’re not yet finished pushing boundaries nor bending musical genders; we are however here to plant our flag as one of the most aggressive, punishing, and emotionally relatable act to surface ..read more

EP REVIEW: Burning Season – Waves In Autumn

The glorious, picturesque hills of Northern Italy aren’t the first place that comes to mind when you think of heavy bands. Yet, the fact that those beautiful landscapes are in danger of destruction from the lax environmental policies of various governments is enough to instil a large amount of anger and passion into anyone. Step forward WAVES IN AUTUMN, who, on their brand new EP, look to continue the themes and messages shown on their previous effort Totem. Burning Season is perhaps a bit on the nose for a record about the dangers of modern climate change, but the argument could be made that ..read more

WATERLINES have released a new music video! The new music video, for the track BRACE., is the brand new single from the Yorkshire metalcore band and follows on from their ULTRABEAT covers of Green Eyes // Elysium, which was released in December last year. The new song intends to be the heaviest song the band have released so far; three minutes of fierce metalcore. The subject matter of the song is as heavy as the riffs that go with it. Put simply, it’s a song about a plane ride with an unhappy ending, and those last few moments of life after everything has gone wrong ..read more
