What I’m reading today is The Girl with Fire in her Veins by Dawn Ford. Actually, I’ve finished reading it, and today, I’m telling you all about it. Minus spoilers, of course. The Girl with Fire in Her Veins is YA Fantasy. Don’t let that keep you from reading it. I’m a few years removed from “young adult”, but I still enjoyed this story. The second in her Firebird Series, The Girl with Fire in Her Veins recently passed the first round of judging for the 2024 Realm Awards. Being named to “the Long List” is an honor in itself. I congratulate Dawn and hope the best as she waits to find out if thi ..read more

Are you a fan of the Hunger Games series? Do you enjoy fantasy worlds and creatures? I had the opportunity to join the launch team for The Whisperer’s Wish by Janilise Lloyd. I don’t often join teams like this since I’m usually busy with book tour reviews and my own writing. But I loved the premise of this one, and the cover was absolutely gorgeous. I HAD to say yes to being part of the group. Now, after reading it, I’m glad I did. The author did an amazing job of creating a fantasy world readers can still relate to. I love the pygsmies. They’re such fun creatures, and the way they’re describe ..read more

Beyond the Gates Review

Beyond the Gates is the new dystopian novel by Erin Howard that released on Tuesday. Available in ebook and paperback from Expanse Books. My review: Rule keeper or a rebel? Beyond the Gates by Erin Howard reminds me blindly following our world’s leaders without question can be a dangerous thing. This is especially true when their decisions and priorities are counter to God’s Word. It’s a slippery slope that can lead into situations God never intended us to face. Too often, circumstances are more complex than they appear, true motives hide from view, and worldly power corrupts as easily as it h ..read more
