Cool find, I thought they were tearing this all out and scrapping the cars. Good to hear!

Lots of cool hotels here. Unfortunatley the Crawford in Denver is getting very EXPENSIVE. I've stayed there a few times but a ten minute walk or cab ride will get you a much better price in a downtown hotel. I'm curious to try out the Scranton hotel, I just never get to that area.

I'm watching this now, but the most important take-away for me: This is how the general public views long distance trains. We can argue, as buffs, all day about how the train is superior, and the average person doesn't care. There is a lackadaisical approach to customer service and people notice it. It's not Delta or United, it's sure not the New York Central or Santa Fe. But we're not asking for red carpet treatment or Lexus-level luxury, or new funding to get new cars. We just need PREDICTABLE service.

Here's a combo-review of a rider's trip from New York to London, Ontario (connecting in Toronto). The rider does NOT have a good impression of the Canadian side, nor of VIA Rail:

Hey! You’re gonna love it up there! If you have time, check out the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail—it’s perfect for biking or hiking, and you’ll spot some cool old rail structures. The views are amazing, especially in the fall! Also, swing by the St. Johnsbury train station; it’s got a bit of history and a nice vibe.

Hiya, my apologies if this isn't the place for it but does anyone know any cool old rail infrastructure to explore in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, specifically around the Greensboro-St. Johnsbury area? I'm going to be spending a week up there on vacation and would love to have a reason to do some exploring.
Many thanks,
Joe

I stayed in a vintage train hotel once, and it was such a cool experience. The old-fashioned decor and the feel of the train made it really special. I'd love to visit this hotel in Tennessee. It looks like a great mix of history and comfort.

I got to set foot into the new station on Good Friday.

From the Webb Street entrance looking towards the paid area. On the left is the new customer service desk. On the right is the yet to be finished waiting room. In the middle of the paid area is new PIDs displaying the next two trains in each direction. Access to the each platform is via stairs or a lift. At this stage only 1 lift per platform is in use.
As it can be seen despite the station being open there is still plenty of work to do at ground level.

That's been around for decades. A bunch of heavyweights and some newer cars.
