I've just booked myself a trip to Europe and it's my first time there. I'll be doing a 10 day tour with Trafalgar, and then staying on another week in Switzerland with a friend. No doubt I'll have quite a few questions leading up to it (not until August). Can anybody suggest a great discussion forum that could be helpful to me? I used to love the Travel section we had in Trademe messageboards, but sadly they don't exist anymore ..read more

Air hostess serving food to pilots may have hit an uncovered motorized seat switch on the back of the pilot's seat causing Pilot to lurch into the controls.
Speculation at the moment, no official reaction to this.

Hi all. The wife and I are going to be in Auckland for 5 days at end of April and beginning of May. We are going to the James Taylor concert at Spark Arena and are staying in Parnell. Our last quick trip to Auckland we went to Piha, Devonport, and Orewa. My wife has limited mobility, uses her own crutches and we are both non drinkers. As we will have our own car can you suggest places to visit that won't cost an arm and a leg, and a couple of nice restaurants to go to ..read more

I was in the air that same night on a flight back to NZ after holidaying in Hawaii. We heard when we landed that a plane was missing. Terrible for all those families that have no answers about their loved ones lost. They really have no closure ..read more

I may be wrong in being unsympathetic towards this woman, and it’s years since I have booked anything through a travel agent, but I see this as another instance of somebody who would have saved herself money had she used one.
News article (Stuff) reports that she booked flights for her parents to fly from Auckland to India but they were denied boarding at Auckland airport because they didn’t have transit visas for Australia
Because she didn’t know that a direct flight doesn’t necessarily...

Air NZ cabin crew told her there were no disabled toilets in economy, but they would have escorted her to P.E. to use a larger one if she informed the crew.
But, she thought this was too humiliating, and instead decided to restrict her food and liquid intake during the flight.
Travelling as an insulin dependent diabetic, must have its own difficulties, and being and anxious flyer is no fun.
But why, oh why, would anyone go to a newspaper and tell the world that they are too fat to wipe...

Blogger/activist thinks this is her right.
Why should airlines carry one less passenger for each flight this woman is on? The cost to fly aircraft has to be balanced out, airlines are not a charity. So in effect, other passengers flight booking costs would go up to accommodate this sized passenger. Equality, no, not for a smaller sized passenger if this woman gets her way...
