Nobody ever seems to mention it anymore. When I finished my apprenticeship (many moons ago) I worked down near there for a summer season at one of the camp sites. A glorious six months ..read more

I was just listening to a news programme this morning and the guest on there said he went to the party island Zante. This lazy journalism which you find mostly written in The Sun,Daily Mirror and The Mail is simply untrue. Yes there is Largana which is a party resort but that is one little area in Zante. We are staying this year in Vasilikos in Zakynthos(prefer that name) which is on the southerly peninsula and it is lovely and quiet with nice beaches and tavernas. It is the same with... Is this a good idea? Thinking pyrenees to stand a chance of good weather. Anyone taken a kid that age backpacking when they've had no history of it? We've cyclist toured for a few years from 3 yo on the back of an adults bike with tent but nothing on foot. Just looking for ideas really. I kind of like UK stuff but you've got to be lucky or go end of may or beginning of June for decent weather or low midge count in Scotland. Then there's WiFi or data/ mobile connection issues ..read more

Mrs D threw this into the mix last night after she found its only 3 hours flying time (the max she allows herself). I thought it was Menorca or Portugal again but am happy to go along with this. We both enjoy some site seeing. That could be for pure beauty or with history etc. Nice coastline, nice beaches maybe. Places to travel by bus. Not full of kids or the young party people......we want to relax. Good bars/restaurants within strolling distance, although I have no idea of the cost to eat... Read more ..read more

I am off to the pyrenees next month, a holiday i booked some time ago. In the mean time I converted my Giant defy to Di2, which has a battery capacity of 500mah. Reading the small print it appears airlines might not allow batteries of that size on their planes. Has anyone taken Di2 on a flight and is there a problem. I understand you can buy fireproof containers and was wondering if this might be the answer. A few years ago I took another bike with Di2 to Mallorca without a problem, but I... Read more ..read more
