How much do you spend per month on fitness?

I was just looking at reddit (I know) and there was a thread detailing how much money these people spend monthly on personal trainers, multiple gym memberships and classes, clothes, protein powder. . . My frugal and out of shape soul was shocked to see hundreds of $ going out. I assume most of these folks are young too and I can't help but wonder if they have any money left to save . . . but that is another topic. . . My total is zero unless you count running shoes for my walking. Even... Read more ..read more

Curious if this is a big deal or not?? .... We moved to a different county in Florida, thus we had to find new Drs..... My DW is 70 years old, went to the doctor for a check-up and blood work. (She is a retired nurse) After looking looking over the order for lab work, she noticed that there was a diagnosis checked stating Chronica Kidney Disease, .... Since she questioned the Dr. at her visit, the Dr told her, its normal, that it does not matter even though she has never had any abnormal... Read more ..read more

This news in todays WSJ got me thinking about using up my meager points and doing nothing but cash back rewards. American Airlines will soon re --ward travelers for booking trips only when they do so through American itself or its preferred channels. Starting in July, travelers will only receive Loyalty Points and AAdvantage miles for airfare if they book directly with American or one of its partners, or with a preferred travel agency. Otherwise, travelers won’t receive points or miles... Click to expand... Read more ..read more

Retirement Date Target Set at Aug/Sept 2025

I'll be 68 and walking away from a great challenging gig, at peak earnings and on my terms, but due to many favorable factors (mostly financials, RSU, etc.) the convergence is for Aug/Sept 2025 retirement at this point. 16 months sounds like a long way off but I tend to plan and over-plan things so a year+ just seems right. Best part is I'll leave on my terms (excepting the unexpected), many times FI and will probably be one of the richest guys at the cemetery (LOL) when I finally check... Read more ..read more

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

I have been a fan of so many classic series it would fill a book. From the 50's to the 90's. Yet I really can't name any series or program that has grabbed my attention in at least the last ten years. So with all that said what new or recent series is anyone watching or would recommend giving it a try? I am a bit tired of the old shows and would like to think there is something worth while I am missing. It could be comedy, drama, adventure, I don't care as long as it is entertaining and on... ESOP sale Tax implications

Many years ago, MegaCorp gave me xxx shares of company stock via company ESOP plan. It's been sitting in an account for a long time and the company stock has done nothing but go down. A few days ago I sold all my shares, and received the payment. Now I'm wondering about taxes. None were withheld. I will get a 1099B later but do I need to worry about estimated tax now? what is my basis based on, when the stock was issued, or is it taxed like a tax deferred account where none of that matters... I feel like we need a thread for bargains that we find. I am thrilled with 7-11. My regular Starbucks order (iced cafe latte in summer/hot in winter) ran me $6. Some 7-11's now have these fancy self-serve new machines that make my lattes just as good as Starbucks. I bring my own cup and pay a refill price of $1.69. Every 7th drink is free. I also acrue fuel points. Today I got 11 cents off every gallon. I'm delighted with this find. What is your cheapwad find ..read more
